Most of the Latinos one sees around my neck of the woods are folks gardeners or other laborers. The two fellows cleaning our roof yesterday and today are Latino. I live in suburbia. What would urban youth be doing here?

LOL at the hippy commune idea. Never was much of a hippy since I don't like drugs or crowds. Our house is kind of like a commune though. We have three generations living here, all family. Fortunately, our home is roomy.

No one has ever stuck a gun in my face.  A few years back, the owner of Columbia Sportswear, Gert Boyle was held hostage and robbed by some Latino men. She's since moved, but she lived close to where I live at the time.

I'm not sure what an isolated lib is. I am politically active and hardly isolated. I voted for local and state school and park levies that raised my property taxes when I believed there was a need. I was disappointed when a bond levy to build a community sports center and indoor pool up the hill from me failed. It seemed like it would be a great asset to the area, providing recreation and a place for folks, especially teenagers, to hang out. I also believe it would have raised property values in the area, not that they are suffering any.

West Linn is known to have some of the best schools in the state. We have a great police department. The police are quite visible. We recently completed a new police station. A local levy paid for it. There's a main artery with a meridian at the top of the hill that cuts through the residential area. Last summer, the city began a meridian restoration, planting trees, shrubs and perennials. This project continues this spring. I haven't decided who I am voting for yet in the next presidential election. Also, bumper stickers aren't my thing.

There is some infill housing being built around here. Three that went in near me sold within a month of completion. Each house sold for nearly $600,000. One bedroom apartments in the few complexes we have start at about $1,200 a month and require pretty hefty deposits to move in. The vacancy rate is ridiculously low.

The 2013 median family income here is $102,000. The percentage of families with children under 18 living below the poverty level is 11.2%.

I grew up in Southern California. When my wife and I were first married, we lived in West Hollywood. We realized L.A. was becoming a place where we didn't want to make our life or raise our kids. We have no regrets about leaving. When we visit there, which is as seldom as possible, we are reminded that we made an excellent decision.

California does have a higher tax burden then Oregon. But it is not that different. California's total tax burden is 11.2% while Oregon's is 10%. Be glad you don't live in New York. They have the highest total tax burden at 12.8%. If you want a low tax burden, move to Alaska where it it only 7%.

It is interesting to me that some folks who I personally know don't hesitate to accept social benefits and pay the least or nothing in taxes complain the most about them.

When I was a kid, I'd sometime work with my stepdad who was a house painter. One time we were painting some rooms in a really nice house in Hidden Hills, CA. The owners were longtime customers of my stepdad's. For some reason the woman of the house started up a conversation with me when she asked me if I was taught to hate Jews. The woman was Jewish as were a lot of my stepdad's customers. I found her inquiry odd. My dad's livelihood depended on wealthy Jewish folks. Why would my parents say anything bad about Jews. I told the woman that I was never taught to dislike Jews.

The above being said, sometimes my dad would have to bargain his bid for a job. He would refer to this as, "they are just trying to Jew me down." What is there NOT to hate about the black race?

I have a huge dislike for people that do pretty much all of these things. Statistically, your lengthy list is probably accurate. I'll give you this.

The problem with this is that not every black person does these things and not every white person is innocent of these traits.

White men have raped black women. White folks don't always take responsibility for their actions....and so on.

I personally know black people who are very pleasant. I have met black people who are extremely attractive. So on this part, I must say that what is attractive and what is pleasant must be a matter of experience and perception.

Trust me, I have no interest in trying to dissuade you from your obviously deeply held ideas about black folks. I suspect it would be a wasted effort anyway. Actually, I feel bad for you because black folks aren't going away. There is no movement to "send them all back to Africa" which is good since most black folks living in other countries didn't come from Africa, maybe their ancestors did, but not them personally.

A culture built on hate simply perpetuates more hate and negativity. Black folk were treated as animals for generations in this country.
