Where the white people live

You couldn't be more wrong. I am white. I live in a neighborhood not very different from Grosse Pointe, just newer. I like where I live. If you wanted to call me out in a way that had any inkling of truth, you'd have called me out for being elitist as some other folks who actually read what I've posted did.

The purpose of my post is to example that race is not always the definition of what is acceptable in affluent neighborhoods.

She's a reporter, reporting the facts. You obviously have an issue with Jewish people.

Let me ask you this -  have you ever made a post referring to positive attributes of white people as a race? In this thread you made it clear the black race has a lot to offer and yet you framed their good attributes against the bad qualities of white people. You posted pictures of poor white people and claimed you would not want to live near those kind of "white people". Now please, post me a link of one of your posts on Getbig where you have framed the black race in a comparable negative manner.

I would not have issues with fake jewish people if they would cease their anti-white views. We live in the 21st century and yet many false jews constantly drag the whole white race through the mud and slander a whole race. For what reason? They are supposed to be the champions of human rights and anti-discrimination. Yet through their actions they constantly discriminate against a whole race of people - because they are "white". What's preventing them from ceasing their anti-white actions and rhetoric?

What a relief. I am pleased to read that you are someone who does not deny that this happened. I agree that it is unlikely that anyone could know the exact number of Jews who were murdered during this time. I don't believe it changes the fact that it was an atrocity. Wars are an atrocity.

As for the rest of your post, you have obviously looked into this period and the events of it. Most of what you say seems like just another conspiracy theory to me. Frankly, I would rather believe that a nut job like Hitler couldn't be solely responsible for everything that happened during this regrettable time for humanity. There were no winners. For example, why didn't Catholics wear the star of David to protect their fellow man? It seems like the Christian thing to have done. Of course there were some heroes too. It is good when we remember this and give them credit.

My father was stationed in Germany during WWII. I was born in 1944 while my dad deployed to Germany. He was in the Signal Corp and worked to restore communications. I have some small artwork local German folks gave him as thanks for his work. I'm not saying he was a hero, because I don't know this for sure. He must have been doing something right though.

Throughout history mankind has committed a lot of genocide and many unthinkable atrocities against other humans. It is sad that after being on this planet for as long as we humans have, we still have not found a way to get along with our fellow man. Perhaps we're just a bunch of evil opportunistic predators. I suspect we will someday annihilate ourselves, whether it is a result of war, terrorism or just fucking up the planet.

I am not so egotistical as to believe anything I say or do will change the course of world, but I try to do my part by being as positive and fair as possible most of the time. I endeavor to look at things though others viewpoint even when I don't agree with it.

Interestingly enough, so have I. My family has a long history in Michigan, although they didn't live in Detroit, but rather Ann Arbor and Albion. My grandfather was the Dean of the Dental school at Michigan State and had a big house on Oxford Drive. He also owned the only octagon house in Albion, which he donated to Albion College. His father was a medical doctor who practiced in Albion, MI. What struck me the last time I was in Detroit was the abject poverty one drove through to get to Gross Pointe. I was concerned enough to ask my wife to close her window of our rental car and lock the door as we traveled through the ghetto of Detroit on our way to visit friends in Gross Pointe. This was probably 20 years ago. I can't even imagine what driving through those neighborhoods would be like today.

The cities in Ohio, where I also have family are not too different from Detroit. We were visiting a cousin who lives in Shaker Heights, which is in Cleveland Ohio. I'd not been to her house before and got lost between the airport and her home. This is before cell phones. I called her from a phone booth somewhere in Cleveland for directions. She quickly gave me the directions and told me to get back in the car and away from where I was as fast as possible, which I did.

I've also spent a lot of time in D.C. Not very far from the Capitol buildings is a D.C. ghetto. I wanted to check out a couple of bars I'd heard about there. I took a cab to the first bar and decided to walk to the second one because it was about two blocks away. The bartender warned me that walking wasn't a good idea. Being a little gutsy and cheap, I went ahead and took the walk. Fortunately, nothing happened. D.C. has more homeless street people then I have ever seen in any other city.

I've also spent time in NYC. I have family who live in Bronxville, near Sara Lawrence college. We took the train into the city and either walked or took the subway once there. NYC seemed really safe as compared to the cities I'd visited in Ohio and Michigan. There are so many people everywhere you go and that gives one a sense of comfort.

Paris is also an interesting city to visit. Like NYC there are people everywhere. We were driving down Boulevard de Clichy where the Moulin Rouge is  and it was nothing but sex shops and hookers everywhere. My wife was so upset, she told our then 13 year old daughter to close her eyes. I enjoyed driving in Paris. The traffic is crazy but moves very slowly. Any accident one might get into couldn't possibly be that bad I thought. This was before Princess Diana died in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris, France.

I do sometimes go to North Portland to events at Portland University (PU on the bluff). Like you suggest it is not nearly as scary as parts of Detroit. I'd suggest the multiple should be 100 and not 25.

Actually, in the early 70's my wife and I bought our first home in N.E. Portland in what was then the heart of the black ghetto. The house was great and the price and financing was excellent. We thought we'd be fine living there because we had no issues with black folk. Our neighbors were really nice people whom we liked a lot. Unfortunately the neighborhood was too much for us to take. You couldn't go to the market without being accosted by hookers who hung out in the parking lot. Our son was in kindergarten and his teacher at our first parent teacher conference told us to get him out of that school as soon as possible. Some of the businesses got bombed up on what is now Martin Luther King Blvd. Needless to say it was just too much for a naive white family. We moved all the way to Williams Lake B.C. to get away from there. B.C. was an adventure too, but that's another story.

Did I say the hookers were all black women? I hope not because there were just as many white hookers in the market parking lot. Also you must have missed the part where I said our neighbors were all nice people. There were only two other white families on our block besides us.
