What is a deadlift weight to be proud of?
« on: April 20, 2015, 09:13:27 PM »
I just hit 500.  I have a feeling that is considered weak here.  Seriously though, I'm thinking  600 is a strong DL and puts someone in the top 1% of gym members, let alone the general population.

I remember when Pat Banana used to post on here claiming natty status while benching 500, deadlifting 600, etc. When people called him out he said something like "it's not a big deal, everyone in my gym can lift those numbers".  ::)

This is respectable

I 2nd the "three times bodyweight" answer.

Ive hit 565 at 198lbs at a meet in Tuscola IL in 2002, junior division (under 23'yrs old) and raw (no gear at all)
Thats my best lift ever of all lifts.

Wont touch that again in my fucking life.

2.5 x Bodyweight for a good lifter at a moderate weight. I think that is a good number for a lifter who put his time in. Of course that could change with leverages/body types. For instance, a big round guy with a tremendous squat could be forgiven for being a bit under that, and I would'nt be surprised to find a long, lanky lifter having a bigger pull than that.

Depends on a few variables such as the bodyweight of the lifter, whether or not the lifter is juiced, the amount of juice the lifter is using...etc

For instance, a 500lb deadlift could be very strong or very weak depending on the circumstances involved.

500 with good form is very good. Very few people can do that no matter the body weight. 600 is exceptional. At 198 my best was 615 for a single with nothing but a belt on. When I stopped powerlifting, doing sets of 10 with 405 always was my favorite thing to do... Best workouts ever.

615@198 is incredible  :o

It also depends a lot on the structure of the body: most amazing thing I saw in my entire life in a gym was Brunazzi deadlifting, unbelievable, people were all scratching their heads. He was a World Record holder in his class, still not beaten today I think

On getbig, we measure the estimated weight of drugged hookers.

How many drugged hookers can you simultaneously pick up?   2x is decent, 3x is awesome.

A dwarf with a short torso and long arms.. talk about being build for the deadlift...

5 plates and up is decent.

I assume at 500 you're counting the collars as the weight?  5 plates aside is 450 plus the 45 pound bar.  Did you add 2 1/2 plates as well?

Its all relative...the deadlift is my best event. When I hit 600..I wanted 650...then I hit that and I wanted more. I'll hit 700 in June at a meet. My goal is 725 this next year. If you hit 500 your going to want more.

2x  your bodyweight is a very good dead lift and squat. 1.25x your bodyweight is a very good bench.

not much people even knows what a good deadlift is because they never deadlift. if you deadlift 600 or 750 people dont know the difference

but if you bench 315+ or better 405 you get alot of jealousy at the gym because most cant even bench 225+ :)
