I personally think its a massively outdated concept, unless it was switched to 4 10 hour days, I know in the USA this is pushed further and alot do 7 til 7.
lets be honest most of it is down to appearances and "looking" like you are working. This day and age we have all the tools to work smarter rather than harder but they aren't put in use, so you waste all your prime years traveling to a job, pretending you are doing something for most of the 9-12 hours then going home.
Also why are people proud of the hours they put in per week? Proud they worked 60 hours as a corporate slave, with no time for recreation, like its some badge of honour.Getting paid per hour is a fools gold, I did one full time job getting paid by the hour and realised it was a huge waste of time and resources, time is your most precious gift.
I switched straight away to working on something that would make me money over and over, with time not even entering in to the equation. The second you start thinking about work as what you can produce that will continue to earn you money long after you stopped working on it, rather than a paid per hour scheme, the sooner you will liberate yourself and your mind.
