I have done a couple of cursory searches and have found nothing (yet, thank God!) remotely related to a 50 year old Scottsdale or Phoenix man being injured in a recent car accident.
That gives me hope that Groink is alive and well. I will take that hope over the despair given us even if it means we were misled.
This is the only one I can find so far that somewhat fits. It mentions a man in his 50s being taken to the hospital but it says the car first hit a mother and her children in an SUV. It is from April 19th.
http://www.fox10phoenix.com/story/27888104/2015/01/19/several-injured-in-south-phoenix-crashPHOENIX (KSAZ) - At least four people are recovering in a hospital after a crash involving half a dozen cars occurred in an intersection near 19th Avenue and Southern.
Police say it started around 6 p.m. when a speeding car went through a red light heading west on southern and T-boned an SUV with a mother and three kids inside.
After hitting the SUV, the car eventually slammed into a pole.
It's unclear how the other cars were involved in the wreck, but at least four people were taken to the hospital.
Among the injured is a 7-year-old girl; she was ejected from the SUV. She was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital in extremely critical condition.
We're told she wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time.
One man who saw the crash says he saw the child get ejected from the vehicle and stopped to help.
"I was in the turning lane. I seen the little girl ejected, so I ran to her aid. I took my shirt off and I put it over her head cause she was bleeding, and she had a big old split open right and her skull was open and she was just bleeding out, so I took my shirt off and put it on her and tried to stop the bleeding," said the witness.
The driver who ran the red light was also taken to the hospital, but we're not sure of their condition at this point.
In addition, we're told a man in his 20's and a man in his 50's were also hospitalized. An 8-year-old boy had minor injuries and was treated at the scene
The intersection was shutdown well into the night while crews investigated.
It's unclear at this point whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash or whether red light runner will face any charges.
