BOSTON (AP) — An incoming Boston University professor who called "white college males" a "problem population" and was publicly criticized by the university's president said on Tuesday she regrets making the remarks.

Black sociology professor Saida Grundy, who completed her doctorate at the University of Michigan last year, had declared on her now-private Twitter account that "white masculinity is THE problem for America's colleges."

In other recent tweets, she said, "Deal with your white (expletive), white people. slavery is a (asterisk)YALL(asterisk) thing," and "Every MLK week I commit myself to not spending a dime in white-owned businesses. And every year I find it nearly impossible."

Hearing about race every other day in the media is very old.  Don't people realize that they encourage more racism than anything in society?  People aren't smart enough to see it though.  It's about ratings and creating divide.

I'm fine with people having predisposition towards an other race, I understand there are real issues that are deep rooted.

However why is slavery still thought of as a "white" issue. Isn't it common knowledge that black Africans sold other black Africans to white Europeans?  Slavery has been an issue throughout all of time, it still happens today. I don't understand why it's still an issue or topic. ....

I would be more uunderstanding if she was talking about racism amongst whites but slavery has been outlawed in America for how long now.....

Yes good point.  "People" have this perception for some reason that the mean old white slavers took their boats over to Africa and forcibly herded a bunch of big strong natives onto the boat.

In reality they were usually slaves in Africa too and were sold onto the boat by black slavers.

Facts like these are always overlooked for some reason today.

 Again I understand the issue with race in America,  it is a legitimate issue; that said it has always been like that starting with the Irish, Italians, Poles (these first "white" European groups were considered less then slaves, disposable people because they would do any job and didn't have a property cost), Chinese,  Japanese, "blacks" and now Hispanics.

Just like the Baltimore riots becoming a "race" issue (according to the media) despite a large minority control of institutional authority.

It is only a "white thing" to lowly educated people.  Clearly her "education" was poor.  Perhaps she has been given a special "white" helping hand with her degree and job placement..

It's also odd that she's a sociology professor, she, more than anyone,  should understand how races and ethnic groups throughout history have  passed through society/culture's  disapproval and "earned" equal footing.  

Interesting she's teaching in Boston, which, historically,  hasn't been a welcoming home to racial diversity.

It's obvious she has some deep rooted issues.
