At this moment, I am a bit high on scotch. My right knee and lower right leg is feeling no pain or any other discomfort. Not that I am recommending scotch as a treatment for whatever ails me. It does make me wonder though, if I am just being a baby about this or if there is something really wrong with my leg.

I hate getting old. Today, I spoke with my sister. She is fifteen years junior to me. She is suffering from COPD and she sounds horrible on the phone. My other sister died a couple of years ago from lung cancer. She was a smoker. Our mother was a very heavy smoker who died from emphysema at the young age of sixty-one. My sisters and I were exposed to her heavy smoking habit, but they more then me for more reasons then I care to go into here. Anyway, I wonder how much our mom's  habitual smoking habit affected them and for that matter my step-dad who died from lung cancer despite the fact that he mainly smoked cigars and never inhaled. I wonder what saved me, well back then among other things I was very much an outdoor kid. Furthermore, I was not exposed to my mom's smoking habit for several years when I was very young because I did not live with her.

I finally made an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow morning to find out what the heck is going on with my right leg. At this point, I have constant, but fairly mild pain from the back of the knee down my calf and on the bottom of my foot as well as in the shin. I was lobbying at the State Capitol with a group of friends yesterday, some of who agree that it is probably sciatica. One lady who has trouble with sciatica is getting acupuncture, which she says has relieved all the pain. I am not sure my medical insurance covers acupuncture.

I've tried mild exercises with no noticeable benefit. Of course there is always the possibility I am doing the wrong exercises. Since spinal issues are what causes sciatica I imagine I need to exercise my spine to relieve the pressure on that nerve....but then, I am not a doctor which is why I decided it might be time to see one.

Also today, I had blood work done for the urologist who I see on the 15th. Not only will the lab check my PSA, they are also going to check my testosterone levels. My guess is they are in the toilet which helps explain my total lack of energy and recent bouts of depression. Fortunately, if my testosterone is low, like it was in the time prior to being diagnosed with prostate cancer, getting it back up to par should be simple as long and my PSA indicates that I am still prostate cancer free. One wonders how that could be otherwise since I no longer have a prostate. Injecting testosterone cypionate once each week is not my favorite chore, but I did like the improvements in made in my mood and energy levels when I was on it before.

I need to get this old fart fixed up and in shipshape so that I start back with a regular gym schedule. I am simply not ready to just "veg" for the rest of my life.

I couldn't agree with your more. I doubt ignoring colitis will result in it magically going away. There is a reason you have this issue. If you can work this out, think how much better you will feel. Take the excellent advice you offered me and you go to the doctor, make that appointment now and keep it. Don't just talk about it or worse, worry about it, but not doing anything constructive.

I woke up with a watery eye, which is probably allergies acting up. -Spent the morning going to the doctor, first for me then then for my wife. While my doctor gets me right in on time every visit, my wife's neprologist is always running late. Today we waited an hour to see her. The good news is we are both healthy and that is what counts. I came home and went back to bed because my eye was so annoying. I just woke up a half hour ago....sleeping during the day when the weather is bad is like hibernating and since I am hairy like a bear, it makes sense. LOL.
