You look jacked in both your photos as usual, Steve. If I may be so bold, your calves could be fuller. This coming from a guy with 16" calves who probably has no right to comment.

I sometimes see guys who are so out of shape with these amazing calves and forearms....makes me wonder, could these muscle groups be the thing that gives us up for who we really are? Steve Reeves had great calves or so I've read. He attributed them to having a paper route when he was as kid in a hilly area. Maybe it is time to get my fat ass back on my bicycle. Hills are not a problem where I live.  :D

njflex, Do you use any form of steroids or hormone replacement? I know many won't admit but you do have a good physique that makes me wonder. No accusatory malice intended.

I believe you wrote you're the service manager at a Volvo dealership? I guess this doesn't happen at new car dealers but I just can't believe the how much the air filter/ac filter scam is so rampart at local oil change mechanic places. For those who don't know when you go for an oil change the mechanic or tech will come out with a filthy air filter that he keeps handy so he can run up the bill when you consent to them putting in a new one. I put a brand new air filter in my daughters car 10 minutes before an oil change and the guy comes and shows me a filter that looks like someone was riding off road.

mean while back at the Ranch..... so a guy was telling me today he had shoulder pains. He wanted to to Smith machine seated presses behind the neck.. so i asked him does this cause you pain? ummmm ,,yes it does. So i said why do it ? listen i said.. lets do some seated machine press with a neutral grip(Hammer)..oh well ..surprise no pain. then seated side machine laterals and then rear delt machine, Job done without pain.

It is amazing what some folks do when it comes to working out and pain. Shoulder injuries seem pretty common when you look around the gym and notice more than a few folks with surgical scars on their delts. One fellow kept reinjuring his shoulders so often that his doctor finally told him that if he got another injury, he wouldn't be his surgeon.

I've done Smith behind the neck presses and they've been fine for me. I start with pretty light weight and work up. They are not my favorite should exercise. I prefer the Hammer machine press for a couple of reasons, one is the three grip variations, the other is that each shoulder area is worked separately, which disallows using one side to help the other.

One time I did something to compromise my shoulder. It took a long time to heal. I just backed off any delt work that aggravated it until there was no more pain. Seems like the commonsense approach to me.

Although I am feeling a little better, I am still coughing like a fool. I don't think folks at the gym would welcome me yet. I am still hopeful that I will avoid this going into bronchial pneumonia, so I am doing everything possible to take care of myself. I do miss the gym though.

The fellow I mentioned before preferred dumbbell presses. His movements were erratic and he tended to hoist more weight then he could handle with good form.

i see this every day in the Gym...Young bucks who are hungry to build big muscles... of course there are a few "know it alls" who try to spread their advice to others in the Gym. Do not get me wrong we have some Guys with a wealth of knowledge and i see it in their Training and i talk to them.. exchanging ideas and such... I tend to find that the Guys who "know it all" tend to have inferior physiques and tend to Change their workouts too often. I tell Young Guys to Keep it simple and stick to the Basics in the beginning.. i look at them and if i think they have good genetics i will start them on a 3 day split. If they Need more time a full Body workout with Basics.

There you go making everyone jealous of your machine in the basement.

This morning there was about an hour when I wasn't coughing my fool head off. I thought, good I can work legs today and then the coughing started up again. I am shooting for Monday now.

My wife is much more sick than I am. She finally got up at noon today. She ate breakfast and headed into the living room to crash in the recliner. I had to wake her up for dinner at 7:30 p.m. because I was hungry. I made dinner easy by getting a roasted chicken from the market, some potato salad and I fixed a green salad too. I bet if I go into the living room right now, she is crashed again. The bedroom chair was askew when I went in to check on her this morning, which suggested she might have fallen during the night. When she woke up I asked her about it and she finally admitted that had happened. She said she was only on the floor for a few minutes, but last time she fell she was down for several hours before I heard her calling me. I am not sure I believe her. Frankly, I am concerned.

My workout today was a day of catching up on gardening. I did some pruning, weeding, planting, watering and I mowed the lawn. It is past time for late spring fertilizer, which I may do tomorrow. -Townhouse, here I come.
