Really depends, usually I do a heavy lift first then the rest 10 rep lifts. Example would be back day today. ...I will go to 635-675 on rack pulls, then 8-10 reps on other lifts.
I ask because I wonder if there was a certain age or an event that happened were people decide to back of and refocus their efforts.

What's a rack pull? Is that a half deadlift off the pins in a rack? What do you pull from the floor?

Weight is also relative. We all know guys that short stroke reps in pressing so they can use big weights.  Another factor is speed of the workout. I remember back in the day a guy from my gym saying he saw Chris Dickerson training and the weights were a joke. Guys in the gym said he asked to work out with him the next time he saw him to show him up and he couldn't keep up. Chris did something like 6 sets of 10 reps with very little rest. It made the little weights very heavy after going through exercise after exercise.

Whenever I hear a guy say what he uses in inclines, leg presses, squats or just about anything else I know I have to see them do it. Bodybuilding is filled with insecure guys. My buddy said he used the 120lbs dumbbells for incline pressing. When I saw him do it he actually was only doing half reps. If he went all the way down he would be lucky if he could use the 90lbs. Same with squats and shallow depths so he can load up the plates. He would have been better off using 225lbs and sinking it to the bottom for quick set after quick set.

That's why I say bodybuilding is cosmetic. If you want to say you're strong how much can you pick up of the floor and put over head?  No way to fake it. You can do it or you can't.

I agree.  Functional strength versus fictional strength.  Just compare Strongman competitors to bodybuilders.

As for how Dickerson trained, I sometimes do that too.  I can get through 40 or so sets quickly and get a great pump too.  The weights are itsy bitsy but they get heavy very quick.

Rest day today. Yesterday I felt particularly weak but still trained.  My head wasn't in it but it was productive in that I did  something.  ;D

Rack pull is off the pins, height depends on how I feel,  usually put the pin in the bottom hole. On my rack it puts the weight 3-4 inches off the ground. As for my form, I'm consistently complimented on how good it is, so I'll assume I'm doing it right. I am kind of a form nazi in the gym.  :P

Our son is here visiting us from Germany. He manages to go for a run or a long walk everyday. I wish I was as ambitious and young as he is. He's 48 years old and fit as a fiddle.

I wish we lived closer to each other. I really enjoy his company. But then I enjoy and like all my children, son, daughter and their spouses. On Thursday, we are going to a Portland Winter Hawks hockey game. We will give those guys an earful if they play well and more of an earful if they don't. LOL.

It was 11:30 p.m. last night when I finally did my wimpy leg routine. 4 sets of 25 squats, 4 sets of 25 leg extensions and 4 sets of 20 good morning's. This is never going to give me the legs of my dreams, but it will keep them from looking old and saggy. Likewise my glutes.

Well I was very pleased to pass my annual physical with flying colors earlier this week.
