In the end , nothing really changes...
« on: June 15, 2015, 11:47:19 AM »
Most regulars here at getbig know  my views on various issues within bodybuilding.
I won't bore you with any summary or updates.
Believe it or not, I've laughed a lot , been annoyed a little , and mostly had fun here at getbig.

One thing that has been consistent with my forum interaction for the past 15 yrs:
The sport of bodybuilding marched onward with little course correction from our feedback.

The recent posting of Kai Green's guest posing , in his custom S&M outfit, made me cringe.
I know many here share my disgust with this behavior at a sanctioned BB event.
The one pic of the young lad, near the stage, was a bit disturbing
It made me ashamed this perverted crap , was an accepted part of bodybuilding.

I'm not naïve and realize making a $$ is what drives the actions within bodybuilding.
Bikini (and figure) is the biggest division and MPD fitness dudes are entering in record numbers.
Hardcore bodybuilding has lost any good sense when it comes to drug use .
More absurd, distorted physiques can now be seen on numerous bodybuilding stages .
To the words of Tony Soprano ; " It is , what it is ." ;)

I could declare the dark side has won the final victory and terminate my involvement with bodybuilding.
OR, I could go with the majority , get on a massive cycle and even inject synthol .
BUT, I'm opting for door #3: :o

I'm going to do my own thing via my own rules.
Truth be told, as I get older, I actually care even less about what others choose to do.
I may never compete again, but I'll go to a few shows, and ENJOY the circus.

I'm heading out to the gym now . Perhaps I'll even do a better job with my diet this summer.
I can't control what others do/don't do when it comes to bodybuilding.
BUT< I refuse to let the douchebags and numb-nuts drive me from my beloved bodybuilding.

PS/ In that same spirit, I  accept ( and laugh at) the inevitable , negative retorts.
You won't get me to quit posting on getbig, and  nobody  will run me out of BB.

Have a nice day. ;)

3. Machine seated horizontal bench press- 1 warm up set, 1 triple drop set ( 8- 5-5 reps/ 10 sec pause between drops.

4.  superset  a. machine side laterals 10 reps     b. seated machine press 10 reps       2 sets each after warm up

You've just taken 56 years to learn what some of us realised by the time we left our teens. Bodybuilding is fun as a hobby (some years more than others), but in the end it's a road to nowhere if taken too serious. I was always too sensible to get involved in stupid shit such as this, but it didn't stop me learning from the examples I saw in front of me. Guys committing fraud, stealing from their jobs to fund a drug habit to 'gain another xxx amount of pounds' or just doing one more show, one more shot at it. I even knew someone that robbed a pharmacy. Think I told the story here before. Really really genuinely good guy. Just got involved in the wrong cult and done some bird for what he done. Now he has a criminal record. For what? Placing 2nd or 3rd in a local show, spending money to get ready whilst walking away with fuck all for his efforts? Yea if it was for the love of it, maybe it's fine. But the guys were doing stupid things and rolling dice with no upside. Luckily he's doing well today with a lovely lady that's keeping him on the straight and narrow.

But yea, in the end, nothing changes. New bodybuilders will appear, they'll look exactly the same as the generation before. They'll start their little social media accounts post about their uninteresting little lives to their uninteresting little fans before falling out of view and the next guy take their place to do the exact same thing. If I paid any attention to it it would've had me snoring with boredom.

Bodybuilding exploded around 1978.  Steroids were easily available from a doctor's prescription or a dealer's car trunk in the parking lot of the gym.  I remember in college the crowd I hung with everyone was a bouncer it seemed. Steroids were expensive. I saw guys neglect their college and the pursuit of chasing steroid muscles.

Sad to say now that I'm in my late 50's I look back and I see so many wasted lives. It seems once the steroids gets you in it's grip it's like having a monkey on your back. How can you go back to natural bodybuilding after being a mini celebrity with steroid muscles? Many of the guys did cycles for decades.  Some died early from heart attacks. One was 40 and he died in an alley from a heart attack waiting for his steroid dealer to show up. Some landed in prison with their decadent life style of drugs both steroids and recreational. Try getting a decent job when you have to pass a back ground check with a drug record. Many never amounted to nothing because their priority in life was getting compliments for being a muscle man.

OMG! I actually worked as a doorman/bouncer at a rock club during the 3 yrs I juiced.

I remember meeting a former Mr Universe working the juice bar and folding shower room towels for minimum wage.
He was trying to get his training biz going too, but since he was a 1970's winner, very few knew or cared about it.
He seemed sincerely pleased and proud that I recognized his name and knew he won the Universe.

It never ceases to amaze me how defensive older meatheads can get when it comes to steroid use.

I'll admit I had a brief, 3 yr period of bodybuilding drug use and delusions of pro thong flexing LOL
The vast majority of my competitive days were without use of vit S.
Over the years , plenty of meatheads thought I was dumb for not being juiced to the gills like them.

I never won a  big title, but I did use good sense when it came to most of my time in BB.
