Making sense here. I'm getting 'hosed'. I'm stealing their shit now. For sure. Starting with their pens

Get creative with that car and your contraband.

Until about 18 months ago I received company car/maintenance/insurance/gas and both personal and work use assumed for past 12 years.....this no doubt was factored into my base pay (worked Pharma sales).  Providing rep with company transportation in that case cheaper for company than mileage reimbursement for reps in big drive territories.

For past year and half I have been in a non-Pharma environment but still work in outside sales.....much prefer receiving mileage money and freedom to pick out my own car compared to having shitboxes to drive from employer.

Factoring 13k for company car sounds ludicrous.  I would counter with offer of driving your own vehicle for mileage money and maybe try to get them to pick up insurance.

This exactly. That is a hell of a lot of money to use a company car.

Indeed. If I was the OP I would take the car and rally it on the weekends then when they ask why the car is filthy and covered in branches scrapes and dents then you can say you were just getting your money's worth.

Counter their offer with the math reversed.  Instead of subtracting $13k pa for the use of a company car for personal use on the weekend, 2 days out of 7, propose that you use your own car 7 days out of 7, 5 of which are work days.  Since they've established that a car is worth $6500 per day over the course of a year, (5 work days) x ($6500), add $32,500 to your proposed yearly salary.

What are they gonna say?  $6500 per day is too much?  It's their number.

My company car came with no charge gas, free tolls, insurance, maintenance, loaner cars, and was replaced every three years. No decrease to pay.

My personal car for 17 years was a Toyota Tercel that I used to buy beer or socks at Walmart. That car just ran perfect forever. Changed the oil with synthetic oil every 3 K.  Sold it to some college kid four years ago and he said it's runs with zero problems. That car is 21 years old with nothing breaking in it. Just normal maintenance. When I retired I finally got a new  car.

My last work car was Dodge Durango. In four wheel lock with turn of a switch I could get out of any snow. Horrifically bad gas mileage. Never came close to the sticker rating.

I was in medical devise sales and they charged about 120 per month to cover personal use etc and covered all costs. They rotated vehicles at about 70k miles and I always seemed to have a Ford Explorer.

Two of three companies I worked at charged nominal $25-30 payroll deduction for personal use with monthly payroll deduction.  Last company had no personal use charge.

We also rotated out every 70k miles.  Pharma companies seemed to favor Chrysler jeep dodge products since FCA practically gives units away in fleet sales to bolster their annual sales numbers.

There are few joys greater than taking out frustrations with company car.....especially if it was a Fiat/Chrysler product.
