Biceps Tendon

Fucker keeps poping out of the groove. That's what I get for still thinking I'm 25. But in all fairness it was 405 for a triple on bench.

Tight biceps go hand in hand with shoulder internal rotation deficit and forward head posture
Use a barbell to roll your bicep while laying on your back

Your thoracic spine is prob very stiff as well

I'll be 53. The only thing that isn't stiff is my cock.

I agree with this. Rarely do I practice what I preach and as I (or anyone) get older I pay the price.

damm good bench coach! BUT, at our age, (I'm 58), i think its better to throw around three plates for reps instead of all that pressure on the shoulders.
hitting three plates for 10 reps will get all the mutts in the gym watching.

Take some magnesium for your flappy cock. Lots of it.

No, never tore a bicep. The only real injury that I've had was a partially torn pec 13 years ago. But I was back training after week. I trained today using DB's and Swiss bar. A little discomfort but have full ROM.

Coach, what motivates you to still go for heavy poundages? Surely you're at the age now where volume:hypertrophy is not such a good return as when you were say in your 20s-early 40s...

If it's the buzz from heavy lifting, then I can totally understand - but even I had to really keep away from my own ego games before I was even 30, I could literally feel my joints and tendons hugging eachother goodbye everytime I went for a PB lol  ;D

I just wonder, say when you are in your late 60's (I know you will still be training) you will really regret pushing big numbers now, for little returns

I only go heavy in my main lifts and if I don't bench I do heavy DB. My auxiliaries are mostly bodybuilding type excercises much lighter in the 10-12-15 rep range with lots of supersetting. Admittedly, the heavy stuff is ego but I also have the belief of why look strong if you're not. I also believe that as I or anyone else gets older that compound power movements should be a mainstay to maintain thickness and strength. 53 isn't all that old but it takes a while for me to recover and I do have to be a little more careful. I'm somewhat back to bodybuilding-type training with more isolated movements and volume.

i did shoulder DB presses with a 90 degree bench.  the DB went back too far and my biceps tendon popped.  sucked.  took 6 weeks of pain before i did an active release therapy - electricity and massage and movement - to fix it.  now i do 80 degrees on the incline bench for shoulder DB presses.

This never would have happened on president trump's watch, that's for sure.

It's great to feel/know that you are strong for someone over 50 (I feel the same way), but it's no fun tearing a muscle or tendon.  Be careful Coach.  Leave the ego at the door.

You know better c'mon.

That macho attitude caused many men a lot of pain and no gain.

In most cases an injury can be worked around. If someone is too scared to train heavy and hard (injuries can happen with both) then maybe it isn't for them.
