I think that most people don't fully grasp this concept until they experience it. Happened to me and it completely crushed me in all dimensions of my existence. Brutal.
Yes. Crypto wallets — especially software wallets — aren’t as secure as many believe. I had some funds drained from a wallet I downloaded years ago, with a seed phrase created 8 years ago. Luckily, it was only a few hundred dollars, and I see it as a lesson learned. I’m not the only one this has happened to. The usual explanations are: you were hacked, a keylogger was installed, or the send address was switched right before the transaction.

But honestly, isn’t it simpler to suspect the wallet developer — or someone on the inside — than an elaborate hack? They always default to blaming the user, and no one ever finds the real cause. And if my system was compromised, why weren’t my bank accounts or credit cards targeted? How were my 12 seed words exposed? This happens to so many people that I’ll never trust a software wallet again. In fact, you might be safer using an exchange with strong 2FA across phone, email, password, and an authenticator app. Exchanges have risks too, but software wallets feel far more vulnerable.

That's part of the experience we all have to go through at some point in crypto. The ones who survive that make it.

I've been taking profits gradually at set points and and not using my profits to trade.

It's impossible to time the top, and a black swan event could happen any time, so I'm happy with gradual profits at designated targets as the price increases.
I started taking profits by selling BNB here and there. I've used AVAX and BASE to send the stablecoins to exchanges where I can cash out to my bank account.

I have not yet sold any ETH. I think it has more room to go up. I did unstake some ETH and will sell those when the price is right. The rest I will continue to stake.

An hopefully I can buy back my original stack if there's a big market correction.

I think ETH has a long way to go too, but for peace of mind I'm taking gradual profits while still leaving enough for if the price goes much higher.

This also gives me some extra stablecoins for any dips, or if there is a black swan event I at least have profits locked in.

I also have some Vechain bought at near lows, so will see how that goes.

That's a good strategy. When I take profits, my goal will be to try and buy back what I originally held and perhaps add more, while still keeping some profits off the table. I keep saying BTC has a budget security issue, but the reality is most people will ignore that, the problem is maybe a decade or two in the future, and BTC will continue to go up IMO.

Bearish September might have just been front ran. Fully unclipped and locked in now. It will either be 8 figure glory or back to flipping burgers. Alea iacta est

That’s fucked up. I dug deeper into keyloggers, and here’s the deal: if your Windows 10/11 system is compromised, even running a fresh, legit copy of Windows or Unix inside a VM won’t save you. Keystrokes still pass through the host first:
Keyboard hardware → host OS drivers → VMware process → guest VM OS.

Keyloggers are notoriously hard to detect or remove. The safest setup is a dedicated computer with a clean, legitimate copy of Windows, Unix, or macOS plus antivirus installed — and nothing else. No browsing, no torrenting movies, no pirated softwarez, no random forums. That machine is only for connecting to exchanges. Keep it shut down when not in use, but update it regularly.

Hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor, Coldcard, etc.) handle this better. The seed phrase, PIN, and transaction approvals happen on the device itself, not on your host PC. That means the wallet protects you from host-level keyloggers — as long as you never type your seed on the compromised computer.

If you ever type your recovery phrase into Notepad, an “ewallet” app, or a web form on that compromised machine, it’s over. A keylogger, clipboard logger, or file stealer can snatch it instantly. With your seed phrase, an attacker can restore your wallet anywhere. Game over.

It’s cool how a record number of people are all early in ETH before the proper record number of people turn up 👀

Yes for sure not safe at all. Only takes a trojan like a keylogger on your phone.

The amount of apps and downloads people do it is bound to happen.

If you have bitcoin keep an extra phone, which you use exclusively for bitcoin wallet. No surfing, no downloads, at all.

First trend peak for each cycle is just when price hits a new all time high. More peak/s to come.

Bitcoin whale ramps up BTC-to-ETH rotation, amassing $4 billion in Ethereum

Lookonchain, the on-chain analytics firm that has been tracking this specific large holder, reported that the wallet sold 2,000 BTC ($215 million) to acquire 48,942 ETH over the course of four hours earlier today.

On Sunday, Lookonchain reported that a whale trader sold 4,000 BTC to purchase 96,859 ETH over 12 hours. In total, the Bitcoin OG has purchased 886,317 ETH, which is equivalent to nearly $4 billion at the current market price.

The two transactions over the weekend are the latest in a series of similar transactions the wallet holder has made in August, following their emergence from a seven-year slumber. The whale initially held over $5 billion in bitcoin and bought $2.5 billion worth of Ethereum in a single week, according to Arkham Intelligence's previous report.

The whale rotation from BTC to ETH coincided with a similar rotation spotted among spot crypto exchange-traded funds. In August, spot bitcoin ETFs saw a total net outflow of $751 million, while Ethereum ETFs recorded $3.87 billion in monthly net inflows, according to SoSoValue data.

There have been 2 massive BTC whales dumping and are bout 75% done.

Tin foil hat theory: They are intentionally suppressing the price (and rotating to eth) and once the September rate cut arrives, they let BTC fly and set the perfect conditions up for fomo, a blowoff top and a proper altseason.

"Every Bitcoiner has their (shitcoin) price" huh? We have seen these attempts at shitcoinery and BTC affinity scams since day #1. Now we see it on a company and commercial level. Even with ETFs.

This same nonsense of moving into a smaller market cap "alt" (which in reality is not an "alt" to BTC at all), and then trying to pump it with the greater leverage due to its smaller market size happens every cycle. Then the Eth to Sol rotation will start at some point, as the Eth shitcoiners move on to Sol, then repeat for Sui, then repeat for even more shittier scams, ending with "NFT's" and "memes". And then finally ending with everyone having "learned their lesson".

The parties that really make the money on this BS? The exchanges, lawyers, scammers who launched new coins and took your hard earned BTC exchanging it for shit they give you, banks charging margins etc. The net losers are the "investors", although some of course do "make money", the reality is its a zero sum losing game, as more money is sucked out of the overall pie than went into it.

And every cycle, the same lesson is learned ...

Tom Lee: Wall Street to Build Core Infrastructure on Ethereum

Market strategist Tom Lee has reportedly stated that Wall Street is preparing to integrate Ethereum (ETH) as a foundational element of its core infrastructure.

He predicts an Ethereum price surge to $5,500 fairly soon, and $12,000 by year-end as his company BitMine reports accumulating a $7.65 billion treasury after the introduction of the GENIUS stablecoin-focused crypto legislation.

Lee, an experienced financial industry professional known for his rather bold market predictions (with some of his earlier ones being focused Bitcoin), described Ethereum as poised to become the “backbone of global finance,” signaling a shift in how traditional financial institutions view blockchain technology.

As I said, first there was the ETH immitation "BTC Treasury company". (A nonsense, if you understand the purpose and function of Treasury" in a company). Obviously next someone tried to do it with XRP, or some other shitcoin, and it quickly gravitates to the lowest common denominator.

"Fart coin Treasury" company next?

Don't be fooled by scammers. There is no second best. Slow, 100% rock solid, and steady wins the race. If we all align on BTC (as opposed to letting "alt scammers" divide us, we will all thrive. Energy is scarce and finite - do not let it be diluted or polluted. I have made this point over and over and over since this thread started. Most have now learned their lesson, but human nature is to find new ways to scam people and part them from their BTC over and over.

See you at 125K BTC.

MicroStrategy's (now Strategy) stock also crashed in Q1 of 2021. And it went from around $104 in 2021 to $14 in late 2022, a crash of 86.53%.

You forget that BTC once crashed to below 1 cent. Just because something corrects doesn't mean it's dead. Your precious BTC included.

Bitcoin's POW model is fucked. Every 4 years, miners are expected to accept a 50% reduction in their income. But energy prices don't halve every 4 years, they increase. Many miners are finding it tough to break even and so some have pivoted to exit the BTC mining business and buy and stake ETH.

ETH flipped BTC in spot market share.

Breaking above 50% for the first time ever.
