You, Lee Priest, Richard Jones, Bob Chic, George Farah and all the other pros that post on GetBig have my respect, and condolences

You guys have shown physiques that are among the most muscular, defined and balanced the world has ever seen, and you guys are torn apart like a gazelle in a pride of lions on these boards. But it seems you all have put it into perspective and treated it for what it is...just an internet message board, so what's the big deal.
I remember an interview with the comedian Bill Murray a few years back where he was asked how he feels about his fame and fortune. He said he you could keep the fame, all he wants is the fortune! If only bodybuilding had the fortune part, LOL.

I only met Shawn a couple times over the years and brifly at a booth. He seems ok to me. Plus anyone can have a bad day or just have had enough, etc.
For my money ol' Richy Gaspari (former 2nd pl Mr O behind Lee Haney) was a full blown A-hole , in person back in his prime in the mid 80's. He was a the featured guest pro at the SE Golds classic in 1986 held in Fayetteville NC.
He was a complete buttmonkey the ENTIRE 3 days he was there. For starters he made the owner/promoter kick everyone out of the gym except a couple of the gym staff on friday night. He had them load the plates and other wts as he worked out and they said he ordered them around like some King.He was scheduled to do a seminar after the PJ but said he felt tired and left right after the prejudging as he walked out out the door to the meet promoter. At the night show he showed up to guest pose, walked right into the back , ignored EVERYONE.
He was to go on just before the overall posedown for the men. I had won the Lt Hvy class and was thrilled to be in my first overall posedown. He made a couple of the staff, guard this little room he was in and took most of the wts and pump stuff, mirrors, etc for his own private use. Me and the others in the posedown were left with very little left to get ready for our overall posedown ( * I ended up 2nd to Johny Stewart)
As he was leaving the theatre an Army special forces guy stationed at Ft Bragg , that trained in my gym, went up to him for an autograph, Gaspari kinda pushed by him and said something like; "...later buddy, busy now..."
My Army buddy had too much class to say anything. I kidded him, that Gaspari didn't know how clase he came to mising it up with an actual deadly force guy...he laughed and shook his head. Truth is, the special ops guy was taller and less massive but, Gaspari had no idea of what the guy did for living and only judged him via his muscle size.
I heard EVERYONE there say the same kind of stuff about ol' Richy that weekend...maybe his dog died and he was pissed...who the f--- knows, but he was by far the biggest A-hole pro I ever saw.
Now, Lee Haney was the exact opposite and always a class act!

Over the past 5-6 years, I've gotten to meet/see most IFBB pros and only one was a prick...on three separate occasions. Leverone...full blown, for sure

It is a little tough to judge ones overall character via a very brief passing at a public event , even the briefiest of aknowledgement by a pro or celebrity can be missed read, ie , some one says hullo to you whilst you are rushing to the tiolet as you have been holding on for 2 hours due to your commitment to fans at the booth, and you reply "hey mate' as you scamper pass can be seen as rude and conceited as you actualty didnt stop to say hullo and pay homeage to the indidviduals appreciation of you !! Pros usally at these events try there hardest to be nice and open to any fan apreciation , remember they are most likly in the sport because they desired to be noticed in the first place,isolated little passing buy incidents cant be used to judge ones character surely ?!

DIV, as mentioned previously, this thread was started to see what opinions BB fans have about "pros". It was not directed to pick on Shawn or anyone else in particular. Somehow, people get it all twisted and instead of sticking to the topic, it turns into picking on those who post their opinions on the board. No wonder so many interesting topics get dropped due to people posting some stupid comments not pertaining to a topic. In this case, you seem to be so entertained by choosing to get your last word as to what I had to say. That was my sole opinion which was based not only on meeting him but also knowing what other "pros" think of him. I am not sure how much you know about his reputation but at one point it didn't used to be all that. No need to tap into the past history of what he's said and done during his BB career. He seems to have changed his ways around quite a bit and much credit to him for that!And yes I have been around enough to know quite a few of them. Not sure exactly why what I said has gotten you all winded up about it that you have to keep coming back with your irrelevant comments...
As to the rest who said that they disagreed with me or that Shawn could care less, that is perfectly fine. The topic was not intended for that. I just wanted to see who or how many names would be mentioned when it comes to not so admirable figures in the BB industry just in comparison to those who are on a "highly thought of and admired" list. And one more thing, when it comes to liking or disliking someone, I don't base it just on a brief instance where one may indeed be in not of their best moods. However, there are those "pros" who still manage to be nice, polite, friendly and so on whether it is with fans, at the expos person to person, on the discussion boards as this one or among their own peers in the sport. At the last Mr. O, Shawn didn't even stand at his own booth for 2 days from 11 too 5. Some others did and somehow they were friendly, polite and open to discussions until it closed down. This is just to relate to what you, HDCOR said previously. We all get tired, hungry, headaches and so forth. But it is an overall presence of a person and whether or not they hold up to their core character. There are many BB's today who are just as established and have a fair right to be confident and that by no means is a bad thing. They've worked for it and fully deserve to act that way! However, there are those who still manage to be humble and proud of their accomlishements without being all cocky. They are not loud, don't talk shit about others, respectful of their relationships, educated and so forth. It is simply some of the "pros" really care about what they say and how they present themselves while others don't give a crap. That's where that arrogant attitude comes in. I've heard many names that people refer to when they think of a "pro" that they consider a role model and have a great respect for. Shawn's name does not come to mind except for the fact of having one of the most aesthetically pleasing and symmetrical physiques in the history of the bodybuilding...

That is true , because I am a civilized person and do not go into peoples faces and call them a smurf..but i have a height advantage over him and a significant longer wingspan... I am strong enough to knock him out with one puch an fast enough to dodge whatever he would throw at me ..and i really believe that. Have i fought before ..yes , do i fight people for fun ...no ...am I scared of Jason Arntz ..no, Is he bigger than me ?? Muscle wise yes, overall.. maybe by 15 lbs... but if he was coming at me full steam i wouldnt care.

ferigno is a deaf prick. at the AC a couple years back this eight year old kid ran up to him and asked him for a pic. ferigno made him pay ten bucks to get a pic with him. maybe he needed a new hearing aid battery. biggest asshole move ever.

second is levrone. met him about four times and every time he is a prick. he commentated on the arnold last year and could barely string a f**king sentence together. now he slimmed down to be an actor.they'll have to type the shit out for the movie since no one understands caveman.

I was doing Pay Per View, I secured Sponsors for my show.
I am no longer competing, we have athletes at our booth signing pictures meeting fans, I mingle when I can but that is not my job Standing at the booth.
Regardless, you ever think I dont like some of the "Fans" and the way the act or talk to me?
