It doesn't give us any answers, but it sure gives some Qs that need looked at.

Forensic pathologist Michael Baden, who has consulted in many high profile cases, examined the image for USA TODAY and said he does not see any evidence that would indicate Bland is not alive in the mugshot. While people can die with their eyes open, the lids usually droop, and Bland's eyes look "purposefully open," Baden said.

He also said it's impossible to tell if someone is recently dead from a photo, and often it is impossible to tell in person because the deceased will simply appear as if they are sleeping, he said.

"There's nothing in it to suggest that she's dead in that shot," Baden said. "I've seen hundreds and hundreds of mugshots. Most people have a sad expression on their face. … She has an angry look, and I don't blame her for being angry."

maybe she was on the floor becuase she was restrained some how and couldnt stand. After all she was resisting at the initial stop so its not out of the realm of possibilities.

We don't need a massive conspiracy to be outraged:

1) The officer had no real reason to pull her over
2) The officer had no right to order her to put out her cigarette
3) The officer had no reason to order her out of the car
4) The officer had no reason to arrest her
5) There is no reason to keep someone overnight, let alone 3 days, for a traffic violation
6) If she was really suicidal, then it was gross negligence not to have her on suicide watch
7) why did she have a plastic bag in her cell that she could use to strangle herself?

Exactly. I find that the cop was a dick for pulling her over for failure to signal, but guess what? A lot of cops are dicks, and you should realize that you're at the mercy of them when they pull you over. It's sad but true. Talk to them respectfully like any person with half a brain would have, and you would get out of that situation with a warning. Sitting there smoking and voicing your bitchy opinion and then resisting arrest obviously wasn't the smart choice. It's the world we currently live in.

i was watching 1 of the news channels just shortly after this non story broke and they were talking to their legal expert. He said...........

-no u dont have to put out ur cigarette if a cop asks u to. BUT...if u just want the situation to go smoothly and get out of there quickly then just put it out.

-if ur pulled over and the cop asks to to get out of the car....u must get out of the car

The cop had the right to order her out of the car, but he did not have a valid reason to do so.  Having his feelings hurt is not reason enough.  And you cannot be convicted of resisting arrest if it is an unlawful arrest.
