  • Fear is proof of a degenerate mind.
Hope this helps.

I see that Gay Norton now pushes this type of diet when he had me banned in like 2006 when I Pwned him in a dietary argument about calories and so called "clean eating".

all due respect IIFMM and the Adonis principles are just people eating normally.
That has existed since the dawn of time.

All you and the IIFMM brigade did was give it a name.

My mum eats Adonis/IIFMM but she just doesnt count anything.
If she puts weight on she cuts down, if she loses weight she eats a bit more.

That works for anyone.

Neither you or IIFMM have invented anything.

eh i dont think it's normal to count calories... basically no one does it.

more people are starting to, but you ask nearly anyone how many calories are in X amount of food Y, and you'll see how clueless they are.  even people who have been trying to diet the weight off forever... they just can't bring themselves to count calories, for whatever reason.

Where did I say it was normal to count calories.
I dont count calories, I eat what I like and use the mirror, if I want to lose weight I drop carbs, its that simple.
I could do it by skipping a meal or eating smaller portions, people are fat because they eat too much and people are skinny because they dont eat enough.

Well Adonis recommends counting calories, though "IIFYM" is different.

I don't know which, if either, you meant to call "eating normally".

IIFMM counts calories
You work out macros based on your calorific requirements.

A calorie is a calorie. There is no arguing with that statement (which Adam is very aware of). However, when he says that phrase, (in the context of it's past discussions here) he is using 'loaded' terminology - i.e. he says 'a calorie is just a calorie' knowing full well that most people will misunderstand that statement and open a whole umbrella of discussions around it.

He means it, in the same way you could assert "A dollar is just a dollar". Yes, you can go back and forth for days on why a dollar means more to one person because of their circumstances, or a dollar isn't actually a dollar because of National Debt blah blah. At the end of the day, you will still be able to assert this statement and be correct.

However, I agree with what you are saying Skorp - depending on what foods I get my calories from, I feel different, I store fat more quickly or less quickly, I have less or more energy, and the list goes on - this aspect of dieting will always be too subjective to 'win' an argument though, and Adam isn't actually talking about this aspect of dieting AT ALL.

He is the godfather of trolling.

I was reading a brochure for a CRM system yesterday, and this thought occurred to me. The most value adding content of the whole brochure was the presentation of the material, and how they had dressed it up to seem like it is indispensable to your business lol. Apple have done the same thing for a long time. The actual information I needed wasn't even in the fucking brochure.

I find when I fret over counting my calories, my diet experience is not a very pleasant one.
To each his own.

If a calorie was just a calorie then I would react exactly the same with a bar of chocolate as I would with a potato if the cals where the same.
I dont, so they are not.

A calorie is a unit of measurement. The same as a meter is a meter. Walking a meter over grass isn't the same as over broken glass.

A calorie is a calorie, but food in which that calorie resides may differ greatly, in the way it's digested, in the way it is digested by two different persons, factors like what other food is being eat at the same time is important too, glycemic index, glycemix load, everything differs greatly if you introduce different mixes of products and give them to different people. So maybe... a calorie is just an amount of heat that is present by burning a certain food product, nothing more.

IIFYM involves meeting certain requirements right? Like protein and fiber? You can't eat hummingbird cake all day and meet your fiber and protein requirements

Case in point lol.

Adam fully agrees with what you are saying, and he also chooses what foods he is going to eat based on more than just 'taste' and 'deliciousness', although he'd like to have us think otherwise.

When he says 'a calorie us just a calorie' he is talking about the unit of measurement, not the cause and effect in different subjects with different calorie sources.
