Can't imagine training that way and wanting people to see it. It's embarrassing. Better to let them at least think you built yourself with hardcore, old-fashioned grit, not this quarter-rep, pansy nonsense.

Worse still is that this is what works for him. Dude's the epitome of 'all genetics/drugs.'

Training is just the finishing touch.

Indeed, an afterthought almost.

Haha people blast Phil but Shawn was the same if not worse, I remember all those leased Mercedes, lambos all while blasting tupac to look tough  ::) yet no one is saying anything about that

I was just talking about the training techniques I've seen pre contest And how this is really different. Hey I'm rooting for Phil. I just want him to rise above this junior high garbage.

People talked about Shawn too but as I said I couldn't see him engaging the trolls. Even when onlyme and others would go in on him on the boards, it was funny and he didn't appear to get all butthurt and take it seriously.  Side note: I miss those days with onlyme when he would get going on Sean. LOL! Those were some funny times on this board

Uh yeah I got that from Charles glass...thanks. He would teach that people could continue to lift heavy even in prep so that more detail would come out. I've just never seen that kind of quick tempo super short ROM before

It doesn't.

For one thing, low reps are for strength.

Secondly, it's the heart rate and caloric deficit that you're targeting, not a rep scheme - you could use either.  High reps just easier to get heart rate going.  It really depends on what you're eating and what you want to be capable of after the cutting.  Isn't there research saying that going hell for leather, high heart rate isn't as efficient for fat burning?

Another consideration is that your body will obviously adapt to the rep scheme you use during the cutting which means if you want to keep your strength as much as possible, you might be better off keeping the reps low.

As for Phil - I think bodybuilding is a pretty boring way to train (but each to their own) but I don't really see the point of him going all out on heavy weight when he is cutting.  Phil is in it for the money and status.  Nobody does quarter reps on leg press for "fun", that's for sure.

I wasn't giving him advice. I was just saying I Hadn't seen someone train like that before pre contest. Phil is an anomaly and as someone who is interested in training methodology I would love to hear their rationale. Most people couldn't train like that and See Phil's response. Training is a highly individualized practice and if it works for him keep doing it

Yup.  I immediately wanted to be more like Phil.  The man's not just a legend, not just a myth but a god.  Not THE God, mind you.  Just one in charge of stuff like PEDs.  But still, a god.
