another thing. people keep harping on about " it's their freedom" but personally i feel i have a lot more freedom walking around knowing it is highly unlikely i am going to encounter someone with a gun on my travels, i would feel like i had a lot less freedom if i knew half(or whatever %) of the population were armed.
Well it all depends on who is carrying the gun doesn't it? The sad reality is you can never predict or know who or when these situations will occur and even if you had a gun it doesn't mean that you could prevent this from happening to you. But ultimately what it's about is people's freedom to choose for themselves.
Having a gun isn't the end-all-be-all , it doesn't mean you can't be killed. But what's the alternative? only criminals carrying guns? Again , guns are like abortions , don't want one , don't get one. But please don't tell others in a " free " society what they can and can't do.
Try taking away women's rights to an abortion and all hell will break lose , but the same liberal progressives want to strip everyone else of their rights. Makes no sense. It's the same with Free speech , everyone is for free speech until they get offended.
