Truth, completely agree... LOL at the guy who wrote that Ramy is better than Dillett and Nasser, bigger and more aesthetic... Ramy is an oilbag with a bunch of bodyparts put togheter, absolutely no flow, legs overpowering all the rest... Does he looks impressive? Yes, compared to the average bloated midgets in the line-up today, but when you have seen the monsters of the 90s, not at all... Dillett, Coleman and Nasser at their best were much more freaky and aesthetic...

Because there is none.

And I don't think anyone will point to how aesthetic Ramy was. 30+ years later and people are still talking about 70's bodybuilding because it was good. In the same way that people still talk about bodybuilding from the 80's, 90's and early 2000s.

In 10 years, people will still continuously look toward the past when it was good. Not when Ramy was around.

People were already talking about the decline of bodybuilding in the mid-90s ,when I first took an interest in it. The appreciation for Nasser seems to be largely a getbig thing, but back in the 90s, I remember the magazines constantly criticized him for not having arms, not  having a back and choosing mass over aesthetics. I agreed with that, quite frankly. I think nostalgia can give you a rose-colored perspective. Peak Nasser doesn't look any better than Roelly Winklaar.

Pro bb'ing is as dead as roadkill.  No one cares.  Its a cesspool of drugs, borderliine personalities, homosexual old impotent men, & bullshit supplement marketers.  Eventually the prize $$ will no longer worth dying over & it will hopefully die off to be reborn into what it was intended to be...healthy.

Nasser looked great and very freaky at his best around 1996, in certain poses mostly, oil not too obvious and still fresh from the crazy insulin overload... Was he aesthetic and better than most then? No, funky build, short blocky legs, weak arms, oilbag calves, but compares very well with Ramy and the others today... Winklaar at his best looks better than most today, but lacks conditioning and he's very short... Regarding Dillett never in shape, that's a myth, in his first years the conditioning was great, striations and cuts everywhere, even the infamous glutes... He wasn't like Yates, but who was? Placed 6th and 4th first two Olympia with the high 90s standard, both questionable, Ramy placed worse in this laughable era, absolutely no comparison...

YMMV, I don't really agree with everything you said here, but it's not really even about Nasser and Dillett specifically. It's the idea of what ritch said, people constantly remember the past as being so much better than the present when that is not the case. Not too long ago, there was a thread on here about how great Gunther Schlierkamp looked.  ::)

Schlierkamp, for one or two shows in his career, didn't look that bad, it's true... Great maybe not though... I don't always agree with the "past is always better" view, but bodybuilding it's one of those "sport" where it's absolutely true, in my honest opinion, heavyweight boxing is another, welter/middleweight also, tennis and MMA the opposite, for example... Not everything is the same... I just think that the genetic pool in the early 90s was much better, plus they were in better shape all year round, with less and better use of gear...

What the hell are you talking about??? That is the era of mega dosing man and all the biggest guys got fat as fuck off season, lol!

But true about Gunter. Got in shape twice. Had a body/structure that had to be 100% perfect to be presentable. Seemed like such a cool fella though....

Hope so! These guys look terrible.

During jays reign I pretty much stopped following altogether. I only started paying attention a year or two ago and it is ALL bad.

Doesn't look to be getting any better
