And my Dad did more than emotionally abuse us, that dude hit HARD.

It's interesting in that it happened suddenly, but from what you said, he was a jerk his whole life, none of his kids want anything to do with him.. some might say it was karma if they believed in that stuff. I would recommend Mom not volunteering to help him.. but maybe that gives her something to do.

Yeah, as it stand nows, of her five kids I visit her the most, and she always wants me to stay and have something to eat and chat forever. She is so lonely but just doesn't want to admit it.

Same thing happened to my friends mom. The dr fucked up and should have given her a dose of predisone for the pressure on the optic nerve. It was something that was curable instead they waited too long and she went permanently blond. GET A SECOND OPINION!!

I created this song/slideshow with some PC software many years ago, I used the software to create the different sounds and loops and recorded some acoustic guitar, added effects and this is what I got. The slideshow is of a small startup gym I tried to get up and running but it never got of the ground.

I moved out to the sticks when my Father separated from My Mum and tried to start a small gym, I hated the bush so I moved back to the suburbs.  He stayed.

That sucks, but at least he's still alive.  My Dad died of cancer at 71.  40 years of smoking and drinking eventually caught up to him.

My elderly father said he went to bed last night and woke up blind, doctors say there may be something wrong with his brain.  My Mum who is also very unwell is separated from him after 44 years of marriage but said he could come home and she will look after him until he dies.  I just had to share that with someone.  

My Dad was a Bastard, but he's my dad you know.

His treatment certainly made me tougher, unfortunately today's modern society doesn't like tough blokes, finds them too threatening.  Modern Feminist society prefers well beaten down, emasculated BETA men unfortunately.

Sorry to hear, Plato. Watching your parents get older is one of the most melancholy things in this world. I can't imagine losing either one of them. Unfortunately, life is only a matter of time.

NO. I have considered this many many times.  Always best to keep your hands to yourself when it comes to children.  Guide them with love. not beatings, and be there for them when they fall and need someone to catch them. That is all.

People often times don't think about what happens when they grow old and their kids become older.

Studies have shown that kids who were physically punished by their parents have a much much higher risk for mental problems when older. I believe it. Being hit by the only people who you trust and love can't be good for development. My dad used to hit me, nothing severe, but I'm not 100% mentally stable as an adult, prone to depression and anxiety.

Same.  I got hit a lot, and hard.  My adult life has been constant ups and downs.  My parents broke me unfortunately, I have come to accept this, doesn't make it any easier.
