Actually I think alot of the voice issues were also due to motivations, read recently that those recent tours were contract obligations with the record companies with the who Chinese Democracy thing.

All the shots/vids that have shown up in my youtube feed since they started has shown improvement every show and it actually looks like they are enjoying themselves. Perhaps putting aside the bad blood was a shot in the arm(no pun intended) that was overdue

some of the obvious songs he protects his voice and sings high instead of the falsetto screech for the obvious reason(they are fucking difficult for anyone ie you could be mine/sweet child) but most the old voice is coming out more and more each show

adler did a guest spot recently and supposedly will be more involved down the road but was getting over some back injury. Izzy retired from touring full time but alot of the music he puts out is pretty cool

I checked out that keyboardist chick, she is a pretty good composer and singer in her own right

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Axl sounding pretty good after what I'd heard from him during live shows in  recent years.

I'll be seeing GNR Saturday.

And, that is my favorite Pantera song from that album.

True metal gods - on top of a very short list, along with Sabbath, Maiden, etc. British Steel and Screaming will forever be among the genre's best.

Saw Judas Priest earlier this year, true legends, Halford still sounds great and Richie plays like he's been with the band for decades.

Speaking of legends, also saw Venom Inc recently (Mantas, Abaddon and Tony Dolan) and they were fucking powerful.

I thought after all these years Axl's voice was gone but he doesn't sound as terrible as I expected. Didn't know GnR had a keyboardist.
Yup, and he dropped a few pounds too.

New Fates Warning is solid.

Could never get into Venom. The riffs just aren't there.

Really wish Sepultura would just reunite already. If GNR can do it, so can they.

Max was/(still is?) a decent and aggressive rhythm player at one time. These days, however, he's a king of slop, live. I mean, why even bother, ya know?

He's also one smelly-looking fucker.

Having said all this, he's a worthy legend and has one of the greatest extreme vox in all of metal.

Iron Maiden, AC/DC,some Metallica, D.O.P.E(DMD), mainly 80s/90s metal. Just not anything thrash speed metal...I like to actually hear the lyrics.

Saw Priest last summer for the first time.  Excellent as expected.  The only thing I didn't care for was the annoying video screen back drop . Because simply,  they don't need it!  It's Judas Priest!

To my thinking, Priest is the most influential architect of what have become the truest fundamentals of the musical style known as heavy metal.

Judas Priest is monster in the annals of the world's greatest musical genre.

Yep.

Just think, Sad Wings Of Destiny was released in ... 1976. Phenomenal.

Sabbath is arguably the "first" heavy metal band (select songs from select rock bands that can be labelled heavy metal were recorded prior to Sabbath's debut, of course), but Judas Priest took the essential approach and honed it into the beast that's heard today.

Sabbath put the heavy in heavy metal but Priest put the METAL in heavy metal.

Other notables in heavy metal's creation as a total entity: BOC, Led Zeppelin, KISS, Deep Purple, Rush (the first actualized progressive metal band?), and several more.

Definite props to Sabbath and Priest. It was Metallica who then cranked things up a notch. Although they still rock live, their records have been one disappointment after another since after the black album.

I think "Steeler" might be JP's definitive "metal" song.

Oh man this brought back sooo many memories! I haven't listened to them in almost 25yrs but once I heard Hell Bent for Leather and British Steel last night every song just seemed to fall into place in my head.
Kinda weird tho how Pantera and Priest are both great and both are led by two coc smokers...work of the illuminati lol
