Same. Bought the album based on the cover art alone. Wasn't disappointed. Loved the riffs and arrangements. Sounded evil as fuck to me at the time.

Denner and Shermann, quite the guitar duo!

Huge Mercyful / King fan here. I bought "Dont Break the Oath" when it came out back in 1983/84 or so, and was hooked.
That shit still stands as some of the best progressive type playing ever...  I saw King in 1988 with Flotsam (when they still had Newstead pre-Metallica for him).

Tim Hansen (Mercyful Bassist) is one of my faves (RIP).

I love that song a dangerous meeting, I used to sing it, I haven't practiced those kind of super high vocals in a while

Timeless band, always great...
Met this guy (vocalist "Blitz") in the pisser at the Channel Club in Boston. Back in late 80's.
Pissing shoulder to shoulder with a hippy, when he comes to the sink (he did wash his hands) it was he.
Spoke for a few and he was off to get ready for the show. Nice guy (pretty laid back).

43 fukking years, a long time and still doing well w/ it... (Formed in 1980)

Just ordered the OverKill CD.

Awesome band.

Blitz is an extremely intelligent, personable and iconic metal vocalist.

Been jamming to south of heaven lately.   What an awesome album.   The classic slayer sound.

I get it - it’s Metallica.   I love Metallica and it’s good.   It just doesn’t kick for me say like lamb of god does.

For the past 25-plus years Metallica has become the metal band for people who don’t really know anything about metal.

Heck, even amongst its thrash peers, Metallica is a woeful band.

Death Angel, Testament, Exodus, Megadeth, Forbidden, Kreator, Destruction, etc. … ALL releasing album after album of terrific stuff.

Metallica releases yet another flaccid, uninspired pancake and all the clueless become excited.

This new one is James desperately trying to resurrect his muse by channeling the NWOBHM.

Sad.

The first four Met records are ESSENTIAL. Then, after the self-titled, it’s been all downhill.

True that... with Justice they stopped being thrash, although still a great band.

As I grow older I even like Load and Reload even though they are obviously not metal records, they still have some good songs. The Outlaw Torn is a brilliant song no matter the genre.

I doubt James gives much of a shit about anything other than hanging out with his children and keeping bees.
