Curl&Press
« on: October 15, 2015, 07:59:21 AM »
Read this article a while ago and the curl&press became my new favorite exercise. I am doing it with a thick EZ bar though instead of a straight bar atm.

Anybody else doing this exercise?

Love old school stuff like this. Lifting and BB'ing follows trends, hope some of this old school stuff returns as a trend.

BB curl grip cleans/cheat curls are a great bicep exercise by themselves. Compound them with overhead press, extra good.  Even the old any-how's/continentals, with overhand grip, could take guy's 2 or 3 minutes to get the bar overhead.

With overhead pressing, with the curl grip, your calling upon more anterior delts than triceps...making it more a pure delt movement. Just be aware of the bar slipping from the grip. And extra wrist flex can be developed as, as the read suggest.

These strongman lifts are not met for everyone, so caution and slower progress will be needed at first..

Good Luck.

Excellent training clip.

Can also do these with DB's for a whole different feel to the exercise. DB's may require a bit more control and balance at first. Either method (BB or DB) will usually be in the 8 to 12 rep range. 20 reps if into stamina and great for cardio, because it's a full body movement..

Good Luck
