At around 5:50 did I hear right when he says that if you grab the slide and push on the barrel it will prevent the gun from firing? Impeding the slide will prevent the gun from cycling but I'm a assuming if a cartridge is chambered and the hammer falls it will ignite the primer and fire the bullet. 

You don't need the slide to cycle for a gun to fire.
