In this day and age they'll live a MUCH longer life than today's bodybuilding mess. That being said who cares if they're "fat".

Bb is not about health, you know this man :)

For me Weight Training is about more than just powerlifting or Bodybuilding. Most people train for generel Health or Rehab.

Bullshit! They cant get ripped, they cant get muscles, they gave up. And the excuse is "I'm doing it for health, wellbeing "

What are the chances of getting an aneurysm from the tremendous effort being exerted when lifting too heavy stuff? Are they common among bodybuilders and powerlifters?

Very rare, I've only heard of one in the last 20 years or so. By far the biggest killer is heart related maladies, usually caused by guys trying to hold too much bodyweight long after their competitive days are over.

I see. A few days ago I was watching a Youtuber's video who suffers from a brain aneurysm and then I read that activities like these might cause aneurysm because of the big blood flow/pressure.

I have gotten more 1000 yard stares over the years from 150lbs massive juicehead twinks who think they are bodybuilders than any powerlifters.

If anything the bigger the lifter(powerlifter, bodybuilder, weightlifter, etc) typically my experience is they tended to be nicer to not only me but everyone

I am 46 and have been around gyms since 1986 with the exception of a few layoffs and 90% of the douchery I have seen has been in the last7-8 years, ironically since the rise in popularity of the selfie, duckface, crossfit, MMA and Jersey shore wannabe's

This pretty much nails it.

Women especially (and definitely) do not care about powerlifters and strength.

As long as a man "looks strong" (meaning he has any amount of visible muscle) and has power enough to open a tightly closed jar of preserves he's sufficiently powerful in the eyes of women.

I've sat in weight rooms for years and have outlifted (often with enormous differences in poundages) almost every single gym rat in every gym I've trained in.  Not bragging just the truth.   Point is, I'm a not a ripped, little guy under 190lbs.  Many times I sat next to a "hot girl" in the gym and have done my normal thing and it's typically way heavier than every other person there, but normal for me.  A little cut 190lb guy can sit down next to me and the "hot girl" and do the same exercise I'm doing maxing out with a weight I warmed up with and the "hot girl" pays me no attention whatsover and strikes up conversation with the cut 190lb guy LOL.

Now looking like Shrek doesn't help my cause either, but in general power doesn't mean jack squat to women.  Further, I snagged my wife when I was the 190lb cut guy LOL...way it is fellas.

So permabulkers just know up front that "fat and powerful" is ALWAYS secondary to "lean" (regardless of size or strength or whatever form "lean" takes).   Very, VERY few women prefer a PLr build.

Men might admire power for a bit, but then there bruised ego and competitive side will take over and they'll quickly justify it away with "all drugs  ::)" or "strong but a fata$$  ::)".

Is what it is.   If you enjoy strength activities then make sure you don't also crave attention and admiration of others because of your power because you won't find much or any of it from other people.  As someone said above, PLing permabulkers are only admired by other permabulkers.

Spot on.

I have been around too and people who are successful power lifters and bodybuilders know how hard it is to train to do well in those endeavors. It's not easy and it's not glamorous.

The most irritating people to talk to and follow on social media seem to be these bikini girls and the social media attention whores. They're all into the image stuff but don't understand the meaning of hard work and that it's not about attention whoring

Powerlifting has turned into a joke. Make a big inverted U with your body on the bench with a wide grip so you're only pushing the bar 12". Put on a cheat shirt with your elbows in to cut down leverage against your pecs. Same with squat suits and the shallow squats that pass in competition today.

How many big bench guys hit the heavy bag like a girl because while they might have strength they have no power?  How many power lifters can't jump or sprint with their "powerful" legs?

In both powerlifting and bodybuilding you should do exercises in the hardest way and not the easiest. You want to make the body stronger and not stroke your ego with the amount of weight you can get up. Watch most bodybuilders when they do any type of pressing. Most limit the range so they can handle the "big" weight that they couldn't use if they did the exercise legit.

The only real lifting in my book proving you're a strong, powerful and fast athlete is Olympic lifting.

With you so far. Or I was, until about 5 years ago. Raw lifting has really taken off since then.

Who gives a shit unless they were boxers or high jumpers?

That's... kind of the whole point of PL: lifting the absolute most weight. So quite a retarded statement.

Powerlifts in the 242 class and lighter are usually jacked and lean. So I don't know where this "powerlifters are fat" thing came from. In the 275 and SHW classes there are many obese men though.

I also don't understand why there is much talk about what kind of lifting or physique is interesting to women when discussing all this. Not every damn hobby or interest has something to do with women and there's a silly trend going on these days in which men should be tailoring every action according to the whims and desires of women. If you're hobby is going to make you unattractive to most women, that's a different story.

You've got a point.  Your hobby is your hobby and that's all there is to it.  What women like has little to do with what hobbies you're doing and more  to do with who the men are as PEOPLE.  An asshole or an insecure brat isn't going to get a quality woman no matter if he's a powerlifter, bodybuilder, professional athlete, or techie.  If he has money, he ups his chances but they won't stay around

These guys have never been to a meet and seen the competition....they'd feel real bad about themselves. The fat powerlifter thing is a geared thing and that is changing now anyway.
