agreed.  guys who dominate the pros are guys that get their pro card and then gain 20-40 lbs after becoming pro.  he has changed maybe 8 lbs in 6 years.
Well, the current Mr. O and the 2nd place winner (who is a 5 time Arnold winner) both adhere to the small increments in weight gain. If Flex Wheeler did this, he'd probably have an Olympia or two under his belt.
Most guys look their best during their first to second year.

I remember a few posts about his dad late in life wanting to attend the Mr Olympia contest in Vegas and the fine gentlemen at Weider offering him a single free ticket in the back row at the top of the arena and not even a second ticket so he could bring a friend or relative. Classy way to treat a legend. That's what Junior has to look forward to.

Was his dad *THAT* good, though or was he good for his era?

We agree that if Arnold of 1976 competed today he wouldn't even win Jr. Nationals. Arnold in his prime would get washed out in a Npc National line up having tiny legs, no back and "decent" conditioning. Arnold of 1980 wouldn't even win a local show if there was a decent superheavyweight in the mix trying to qualify.

Was Sergio Sr. really that good? Or was he good for his time? Would old man Sergio of 1970 even be in the first call-out of a USA's? I doubt it.
He was that good! I saw Sergio guest pose 84 I think, in S.FL. You would have had to see it to believe it. His structure, muscle bellies etc. I will never forget it.

Maybe because he was salty about the way the IFBB had treated him and they felt, "meh" about him in the present?
Funny how the IFBB left a bad taste in the mouths of Sergio, Serge, Robby, etc.

He's more ripped than his Dad ever was. Who knows what Sergio would look like dropping that extra 10-15 pounds. It changes your whole physique.

People talk about Sergio deserved to win in 1972 over Arnold, I saw pics and Arnold was far more ripped, and bigger. Sergio might have had nice shape, drop 15 pounds and see what that shape looks like then. It's a totally different ball game.

They treat all of them like shit. Think about why there are no former mr Olympias at the contest except for jay and he lives there. They came out for the 50th but it's sad how they do. All former mr. Olympias should get free hotel and tickets.

Pro bodybuilding isn't a lucrative career for most so I hope he has other revenue streams.  I am rooting for him

Better conditioning but Sergio's structure is better. The only problem with Sergio is he is a bit long waisted, which takes away from his back development. Shows from the front, especially in the victory pose and front double bicep.

Could be remedied by wearing dad's high waisted old school trunks..

Lot of potential here, and it sounds like he's semi intelligent. Unlike the super "freaks" who just go balls to wall abusing drugs until they blow out one of their livers, Sergio seems like he knows that to be a lasting success, you can't rush it.

The "freaks" have always come and gone and that's because they have little interest in bodybuilding. They just do well on drugs and rely entirely on them.

His father was a hard working, hard lifting Cuban. No psychopathy.
