According to Bleeding Cool, a group of angry ‘Star Wars’ fans have threatened the unimaginable – to spoil the plot of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ unless their demands are met.

But do they want money? Fame? Jedi Training? Not exactly…

“The Alliance to Preserve the Expanded Universe is a Star Wars private Facebook group that organises petitions against Disney and Lucasfilm,” they explain, “asking them to continue creating stories based in Star Wars Legends, the brand formerly known as the Expanded Universe.”


Thrawn trilogy was fucking huge and great addition to the star wars universe. For Disney to do this was idiotic but not surprising because Disney wants to turn Star Wars into a perpetual cash cow for the next 10 years.

The thrawn trilogy, the yuzhan vong invasion and the dark luke skywalker comics. The Thrawn book trilogy was fucking amazing and a great addition to the Star Wars universe. For Disney to completely shit on it is not surprising though.

The thing that Disney seems to be missing is the fact that the vast majority of Star Wars fans are men. And since its already an established franchise, these are the fans they should be catering to. Men have a hard time relating to a woman lead. That's why movies like die hard and Rambo do well with men as their target audience. If Rambo was replaced by a woman, I guarantee it wouldn't have picked up a cult following of men like it did.
Female leads are fine, if the franchise has a history of that and it has been successful or its a new franchise all together (like Frozen or Brave). It just doesn't work in a movie that has had a history of male leads.

They realize that they already have the man base and are now trying to broaden the scope.  This is a huge cash cow for them.  The movie is nothing more than a commercial to sell toys.  They were estimating $3 billion in toy sales.  Abrams is no retard either.  He is only doing this movie and not the follow up.  he knows this will rake in the cash no matter how good or bad, the true test is the follow up movie which I think won't be 1/2 as popular and at that point he can request the world for Disney to come back and do a third.
