Marriage isn't an institution that helps keeps couples together these days. It's worth has diminished greatly.

Yup. Its an easy way to get out of the debate. If God does not need a cause and just "is" then there is nowhere to go. The conversation just comes to an end. Again, its a good ploy to ever having to really prove anything. You just say, "God is infinite," then cross your arms. Its like throwing a temper tantrum.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. It's beyond human intelligence. But.......here's this list of rules of what he wants us to do. Except its meant not to be taken literally.

My honest guess?

Very few things will make you sick faster than spoiled pork. There's probably prohibitions against anything that couldn't be salted (at the time) or stored longer than a few days. It could have also been a parable about rejecting the Devil's influence, explaining that even unclean animals have would rather die than be possessed by demons

As far as casting demons out into pigs, drowning, walking on water, etc... I generally believe some stories to be more parables to show the power of faith than strict historical accounts.

I generally agree with Benjamin Franklin's assessment on religion being necessary for people. That being said; I've little tolerance for hypocrites and am always amazed at how little insight people have over selectively practicing their religion or using faith as a sword to harm others.
