Chests were better back then, as you had tall Bodybuilders with long sternums. Today's 5'6" Bodybuilder might have thick pecs, but they're just not as impressive.

i tore my pec partially 6 months ago-still contemplating surgery-but I hear itll never be the same so should I bother ? Im 43

I'm natural and had a complete rupture of my pec last March.  It does seem rare though.

Hmm? Interesting.  You might be right. Pec tears are very rare for any athlete because the pecs don't really perform any practical athletic function.  Occasionally an NFL guy will tear a pec but it's quite rare.
