Who woulda thought that one day he'd be cheating on a Kennedy with Mildred.

Hard work pays off I guess.

Eventhough Off-Season, Phil has some muscles on his frame ffs. He looks like a BB, Arnold looks like an Average Joe on these pics ::)

Haha this comparison does phil no favors

Just shows arnold looking good while completely off, and being alpha about the whole thing. Knowing muscle is just one part of life. Tall, hair and good skin, no one can rag on that

Phil, "cruising" on a boat load of shyte, still managing to look like a puffy midget who's compensating for his complete insecurity - which is bigger than his physique. eyes look desperate, face unhealthy

exactly, here's another from the same year 1977, 2 years after competition so again not off season, retirement.

That's why old Arnold pics will always sell magazines

He simply has more pull than pure muscles. It's a look that portrays a masculine and healthy ideal.  And for bodybuilding to ever be put on mainstream channels again, you need more than muscles too sell it

Yep, arnold in retirement condition in the pics in this thread and not even famous would get him much more attention.

Arnold got big in the offseason like in the 1974 mr southern hemisphere. These slim pics are confused with retirement time.
The pic laying on the beach is 1977 as is this one

but then look how much bigger he actually is next to an average guy and flexing

it's amazing what a few inches makes in the visual difference of arm size  :o

Arnies arms about 18 inches there, while the other dude most likely has 14 inch arms

so 4 inches make an incredible difference

it seems once a arm measures a legit 17 Iinches it looks MUCH BIGGER

Phil has fuckin pumped up backstage no doubt, with a ton of oil on his body, tensing for dear life. Arnold is relaxed at a beach. Great comparison pic  ::)

The craziest thing about Arnold being a bodybuilder back then was that he had a real job.

He did? Doing what exactly? Are you talking about his "Mail order business"? What products do you think were being sent out by mail back in the 70's?

But please, enlighten us, what company did Arnold work for  working his "real job"?

I think you'll find the closest he came to working a real job was hitting Joe Weider up for cash in between shows.

Damn Phil looks like absolute shit compared to Arnold laying on the beach.  Much rather resemble Arnold than the Pillsbury Doughboy Heath

Steroids were available in the late fifties, so unlike that the guy on the cover looked like that all year round....

Average Joe? Do you get out much? In fact look at the "average Joe's" you see at the gym, whom are not average Joe's because they actually work out. But 90% look like shit and have saggy guts. Arnold looks robust and healthy here.

BTW, what do you look like? Ever posted a pic?

If you really think Arnold had a regular job in the 70s then I got a nice bridge for you to buy....

Even Ric Draison didn't work in the 70's - in one of his clips he said he worked ONE day with Columbo laying bricks and said fuck this! No word of him ever working with Arnold!

Dont forget Paul Graham doing time for Arnold over the car rebirthing racket.

Arnold has NEVER had a regular job unless you count the Army.

And Arnold's mail order business?? Lets just say it was sponsored by Ciba!! And Arnold's suitcases were FULL of "primo" product every time he got back from a trip to Austria....
