i thought they were on a similar path here.  Heat went to the Final year 1, lost.  Cavs went (badly hurt) and did better against one of the all time great teams, the hot Warriors.

This year, they're cruising to the finals on the same path.  if top 3 are healthy and warriors are a little dinged up, cavs can win it.  ballebadova will undercut curry every chance he gets.  any knee injury, however minor and curry is neutralized to a spot up shooter.  Cavs can win the title this year.

IMHO, it's just a case of cavs figuring they're in the finals no matter what, so Lue will do.  Although I'd love to see them move Love for someone lanky and defensive that can shift to center so lebron can dominate as a power forward.

Wiggins would have been ideal for this...

Obviously he was traded because he was going to take some time to develop, but in his letter LeBron seemed to know that winning a title in Cleveland would take some time.  I think Wiggins would have fallen into place and would have developed like a young Tracey Magrady, an athletic defensive minded wing, while Bron and Kyrie lead.  Love has been a STAR and is a personality, it was written that when the team was gathered together to be told about Blatt's dismissal they thought it was going to be to find out Love was traded.

Doesn't matter one way or another, maybe Wiggins wouldn't have worked, maybe this team wins a title, I'm a nobody fan. That said for every good move they've made Cleveland makes one equally as bad.

Yeah but in his defense the STAR players have always called the shots, LeBron just seems to be the most influential. Dont blame him blame the league.

I would get it if it was Thibedou or Popovich but not fucken Tyronne Lue. good assistants do not make good head coaches.

Great Managers/Supervisors do not make great CEO's.  Good luck to the Cavs, I have a feeling they will trading someone at all star break.

I just don't understand why he got a new contract to be a head coach, he already was locked under contract and one of the high paid assistants in the league.

That's not 100% true.  They weren't trying to keep him.  Lue was actually on Doc Rivers staff in LA.  Cleveland didn't want to hire Lue as the head coach so they hired him as the associate head coach and paid him a ton of money.  They signed him before hiring Blatt as a way to help lure Lebron to come back.  The whole thing was very weird.

Pretty much.  I've never heard of a team hiring an associate head coach before hiring the head coach.  I can't name a team that even has an associate head coach.

Blatt had a philosophy that basketball is about matchups and not superstars.  He would bench his superstar for a game if it meant a bench player was a better match up.  he tried that early last season limiting numbers based on the matchup and the NBA egos had a fit.  If he could, he'd probably leave Love on the bench for the whole game against the Warriors but then the owner would have a fit that he paid $100+ million for a role player.  Pop gets away with it in San Antonio because the players bought into the system.  I believe this season and most of last, no player has been on the court for more than 30 minutes.  Then you have James who's on the court for almost all 48 minutes.  Even in Warrior's games when the bench was rolling, Curry and Thompson were happy to sit on the bench where James was forcing himself into the game and fucks up any momentum the team had. God forbid the Cavs win a game without James being the team leader in points

Love got his guaranteed 100 million.  People forgot he fucked up his shoulder last season and was playing well before.  Who knows if he's even 100%.  Luckily for him he could be cut tomorrow and will still make $100 million guaranteed.

Blatt is correct.  Smart basketball is about matchups.  You gotta have superstar talent too but if you don't play smart then you are fucked.  Too many players just try to pound that square peg in a round hole.  Forcing the action instead of reading the defense and moving the ball.  This is why OKC never won a ring.  Talented but dumb.  Lebron won a couple of cheap rings in Miami so now he thinks he's Einstein on the court.....he's fooling himself.

Man, I think with Lebron you gotta have a defensive center with some length that does expect a lot of shots, then you surround them with 3 point shooters to spread the floor.  Championship.

As Clevelanders, we have no time to wait for Wiggins to realize his potential. Yes, Love sucks on defense, but he can shoot. And we need shooters! I still like our chances in a 7 game series vs Golden State or SA.
