My experience...

I have probably gone through 2 liters of Diet Coke daily for the last 3 years.

I've researched all the ingredients of Diet Coke extensively, both as single agents and also as combined with each other within the drink.

The only detrimental effect that I found from consuming Diet Coke comes from the active ingredient Phosphoric Acid.

The findings from a study conducted in 2003 (see link below) suggest that:

"When phosphoric acid comes packaged with other nutrients, it's absorbed normally and everything is in balance. We think the problem with cola is that you're getting those doses of phosphoric acid without any calcium. It's not balanced, and that extra phosphorus binds with calcium and prevents it from being absorbed"

Study can be found here:
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/461898

Just to gauge how bad the effects were on me, I had bone density scans done over a 2 year period. Keeping in mind that I take a daily multivitamin and generously dose with Vitamin D and Calcium supplements, while working out 3-5 times per week, my bone density scans showed MARGINAL decreases in overall bone density. These decreases, as per my primary care doctor, did not place me at a substantially higher risk for fractures. Had I not kept a steady supplementation regimen, coupled with my workouts, maybe things would be different.

As a result of my findings, I continue to consume large amounts of Diet Coke daily.

Would be too easy to edit and replace Diet Coke with cock.

So then, did your bones and/or joints ache at all?  That is my experience in drinking as I said gallons of the stuff throughout the day/week.

Thanks!

I'm going to cut it down after the end of my diet, this shit can't be good it feels unnatural and harsh on the stomach. My teeth have been reported recently as perfect by the dentist though.

Yes. I still find that they ache a bit (joints), but it's hard to tell whether that's solely from the Diet Coke consumption or whether my age (50+) has something to do with it.

I'd love to never drink soda, but unfortunately, I am not huge fan of water.

For me it is age but heavily accented by my consumption of Diet Coke.  When I stop drinking it I feel better after about a week or so especially if I drink some milk.  Weird.  I am nearer and nearer to 60 so that's probably the real culprit although I don't really hurt as much if it is regular Coca Cola.  Dammit!

Coke or milk.., if you care about your health, you shouldn't drink both of them.

I only drink a quart or so a day now and when the container is empty it's a few days before I can get to the store again.

I'm lazy.  ;D

I have done that college bet where you drink a gallon of milk in under an hour without  barfing it up with relative ease.  I'm fat too.  ;D

My brother quit a major DC habit - twelve a day, easy. Stopped for quite a while, said his joint aches and pains magically disappeared.

Saw him a few months later with one in his hand, he said, "Eh, it still hurt, bro, just wanted to believe it was working." Probably up to a case by now.

My brother temporarily quit a major DC habit - twelve a day, easy. He said the exact same thing, joints and aches magically healed.

Saw him a few months later with one in his hand, he says, "Eh, I still hurt, bro, just wanted to believe it was working." Probably up to a case by now.

A case, huh?  PRs for me are in the gallons range for pop a day and a couple years ago on a trip to my older brother's home in Oregon I consumed 15 Monsters on a day ride north.  I was, how shall I put this...really AWAKE!  ;D

Caffeine pig here.  I quit every once in a while too.  Headaches for weeks, LOL!

A quart isn't that much, but I bet that Vince Gironda would have slapped you in the face for this, unless it's the raw version.

When it gets warmer, I will try to stop for a month and see how I feel.

I've considered tea, but most doesn't taste too good (imo).

That's now.  When I was young I drank up to three gallons a day.  I like ice cold milk so it was never a problem.  Except affording it.  ;D   Yeah, Vince would slap me stupid as I could never afford "raw milk'.  I took to drinking half and half and then whipping cream for the calories.

With that amount of caffeine, yeah, I can imagine. DC really doesn't have all that much, not nearly as much as those energy drinks or coffee, especially Starbucks (for whatever reason).

I'd once swapped a long 6-8 cans a day deal for water, just refilling liter bottles to stave off hunger between meals while dieting. Because I was ALWAYS full of water, I unintentionally quit the Cokes, really. Wasn't stopping for Big Gulps anymore and not a can in the fridge. Don't recall even a single withdrawal headache.

Coffee, though, different story. Didn't even know I was addicted until L.A. County graciously invited me to a 30-day, caffeine-free sleepover at a wonderfully diverse facility known locally as "Twin Towers." Had a concussion-type migraine for at least two days.

Good times.

I read as far as this post, then called bullshit. There's no way that guy can open a can, or bottle of coke.
