ROFLMAO.  Yes!

Easy as shit to grow tomatoes.  You could become a billionaire in no time at 8 dollars a tomato.

The Solanum lycopersicum ferrignum species might go as high as $20.

Take them on for what?

They spend billions in research on seed technology and have a right to make sure nobody copies their products.

The idea is that they'd try to interfere with people and their gardens.  I don't know if that's true or not, but people have a funny way of finding their fight in cases like that, I'm sure.  From what I know, there are some very good private seed banks out there, and I'd imagine those networks would simply expand accordingly.

Mother Nature thought of it all, as a seed will produce more seed if nature is allowed to take its course.  In certain cases, that process has been altered along the way (to cause a seed to produce only non-viable seeds in return), of course, but more people growing could reverse that trend very quickly.

If we relied solely on nature, we would have nothing really to eat and nothing appetizing at that.

What are some of the claims against them (Monsanto)?  I don't think I fully know.

This is true. Monsanto has engineered crops that grow in some of the harshest regions on earth to be able to feed the increasing population of earth.

They have corn that grows in the desert. Almost no water and it not only grows but thrives.

What's wrong with that?

Nothing. Corn was one of the first genetically modified plants for food, and it was done thousands of years ago. Shit has been going on forever and people question it like it's some clandestine plot to take over people's minds, lol.

Who thinks that?  Have just been reading about Monsanto, trying to figure out the controversy surrounding them, and hadn't seen a word about you said.

Maybe in other countries, but, in the U.S the goods and services available to the so-called poor weren't even available to elites just a few years ago, but, to minimize the successes of Capitalism, the Left has to take everything for granted.

a good 50% of your posts mention leftists and liberals in these broad sweeping yet nebulous terms. I've tried to figure out where you get these concepts but that remains a mystery. Please refrain from such drivel. If you open your eyes you'll notice that liberals run the entire world and intelligence is correlated with self-declared liberals.

just because bill o'reilly says something does not make it so. again please cease and desist from this pathology, hopefully the schema is not permanently engrained.

Glad you're learning something. Only in the fox news world is calling someone a "liberal" considered an insult.  It's well known that so-called liberals are most of the leaders in the world because they have higher intelligence.  The few republicans who are smart turn out to be "liberals" of the libertarian bent too oddly enough. Please consider this next time the urge to insult someone as a liberal is about to erupt. I wish you good luck in your efforts to articulate well formed thoughts in the future. Hope this helps.

Burlington, the Capital of Vermont is not far from the Canadian border.

He hasn't ever provided a good or service other than hot air, to anyone, but wants to dictate to those that do.
Montpellier the capital of Vermont. No?

The reason Libertarians exist is because modern 'liberals' are not liberal: they believe in the welfare state, affirmative action, political correctness and limiting free speech.

the terminology has become pretty debased by the doofuses intent on insulting anyone smarter than them. You have to differentiate between "classical" liberals and "modern". Same thing with Libertarians who have been around since forever...Being against "liberals" is to be against the last 500 years of western cultural and intellectual development.  Is this something to boast about? Get an education people.

Socialism, political correctness, cultural marxism, affirmative action etc have nothing to do with real liberal values.

Being against modern 'liberals' is to be proud of the last 500 years of western cultural intellectual development and wanting it to still continue into the future.

Liberalism in it's traditional sense is something which should be promoted around the world. It leads to mental enlightenment and intellectual advancements. Look at the Islamic world for instance, it's the liberal thinkers (such as Raif Badawi and Malala Yousafzai) who are pushing for equality, freedom and education while the conservative establishment wishes to keep the people ignorant.
In these cases, I'm sure we can all agree that liberal politics should be supported.

However, the western world has recently seen a new type of liberalism which seems to be more about naive and often delusional student politics, than a sincere belief in the core values of liberal politics.

And so the question is, how did it get to that point? Is this the grand progression? And one should caution in saying that all liberal politics should be supported. Just like all conservative politics should not be supported.

I'm not sure but I think it could the gradual progression. If so, you would be correct in saying that we should be cautious before supporting it.
Perhaps also cultural, media and social changes over the past few decades have created the modern kind of liberal in Western socities - while countries in the Middle East and Africa have yet to experience these major changes so their liberal thinkers have remained more genuine and pragmatic.

At least in the UK, the typical liberal is now not someone I'd wish to associate myself with.

Sanders never said that anyone alive today should personally apologize for slavery. He said that our NATION should. The nation that was built on the backs of many slaves. It's like Germany apologizing for the Holocaust even though almost no one alive today participated in it. It's symbolic. It sends a message that we, as a nation, have officially apologized for our mistakes.
