Tilt your head back and look up the next time you do side laterals, will keep the traps from working too much.
Thanks, I will try that.
I believe that after looking Ronnie Coleman and his disintegrating body, that training smarter, not harder is better way. He knows of no other way--to train hard with heavy weights, and now he's had umpteen back surgeries, fused lower back, both hips replaced, arms shrunk, torn tricep, lat...and older guys like Vince Taylor still look good.
And so, I had just stumbled onto this guy's vids. He makes sense, and he is a PT, so he has to deal with people who are like Ronnie---operations on arms, shoulders, hips, back.

Right and wrong don't change.

The internet lets everyone feel like they're an expert so his Doctorate and additional training on a subject matter makes people feel uncomfortable. :)

I have been doing all of those except good mornings for over 20 years. I have more muscle (natty) than him and I have never been injured. I will do all those tommorow because he says not to.

OK he is selling his training principles etc but his videos in my opinion are top notch. Most will say just lift from a to b and keep it simple but to avoid injuries and for results if you are not coming forward in your training then i think give his ideas a try. Integrate some things in your training. He even talks about "offset" Dumbbells in an arm training video.. Reeves did this ;)

Flyes are the cornerstone of my chest workout............great exercise if done correctly with heavy bells and good form.

Upright Rows should be done with a wide grip elbows high to lower pec line and strictly for side delt development.....shrugs are for traps along with rowing of any kind and various other shit!   :D

I do my laterals behind the back.....much better stretch and ROM.........my delts are one of my few good bodybparts.

I do them light and strict for more volume after main heavy sets of military presses, for fuller rounder shoulders no excercise comes close inho mine go as flat as a japs face if I stop the behind neck presses for a while

Gotcha ...we have a Trainer who does them on the smith machine and Heavy. I think what you do is sensible. Mind you he has been doing them for years and says he has no problems. still iīll stick to front press myself.

Did you even watch the vid? He explained certain things. And many exercises of done right are good. I even posted the vid of him explaining the reason why he says Behind the necks are bad, and he uses a model. He backs up what he says, he is not engaging in "bro science". He sees the end results and deals with athletes. Yet, people want to get at him and call him a tool, when he trying to help lifters.

he probably never even watched it or did not understand it. This is getbig  ;D I agree though the man is good at explaining it all in simple terms. Remember i posted the video on the Training section. I agree fully with him.

I think structure and flexibility also play a part into how some lads can do it with no shoulder problems and others cannot, I've seen guys so tight they cannot even hold a broomstick behind the neck in the bottom position, I can imagine if they forced a weighted barbell there it would destroy their shoulders in no time.

I do them slow with a pause at the neck and stop at the signs of form breakdown not failure or anywhere near

yes true, i have done alternate front and back presses..forget the name of the exercise. Just clearing the top of your head when going front to back. keeps continuous tension on the whole shoulder area. I could not go heavy on these but still got a good effect.
