they're not getting released - they are getting moved to SuperMax, right?
I bet they PREFER the tropical soccer games of Gitmo over the 23 hours solitary brick in freezing ass colorado or michigan or wherever. Gitmo, they get camaraderie and great weather. Actual prison would suck for them.
and nobody has ever escaped supermax, or ever will, right?
what is the big deal? Your war boner over the mean cuban prison?
Big deal is that we're kidnapping and torturing a large number of people without any judicial process or public disclosure. Bad enough in itself, but if the objective is protection then how do you even know you've got the right guy without a broadly accessible review of the case? Because some CIA analyst said so in an email? If they knew their job 9/11 wouldn't have happened in the first place. And shit, if they grab the wrong guy then the right guy is still wandering around out there while all the end-justifies-the-means farm boys are sucking each other's dicks over a job-well-done. If you knew your enemy was engaging in this, think you might ramp up a disinformation campaign to get them to nab some of your rivals for you? Or feed them people who don't know a fucking thing so they can feel nice and busy and not come looking for you?
The problem isn't just that it's evil and illegal. It may not even be effective. As a disinformer's wet dream, it could even be counterproductive. (And if you believe the body that got dumped into the ocean before anyone got a chance to see it was really Bin Laden then visit bridgesales.com.) Or maybe it is effective. We'll never know because, as usual, the military government does whatever the fuck it pleases, in any amount it pleases, with programs that rate themselves as super-effective and self-perpetuate once established. No one tells us a goddamn thing except that there are still attacks happening on a regular basis so we really need these programs... which prevent these attacks from happening. I'm no analyst but wtf kind of logic is that? They haven't solved the problem. They don't seem to have ameliorated the problem. Seems reasonable after this long to question whether they're on the right track to a solution.
And another thing, mmmmpff!!! Hey get that bag off my head! [bonk]
We must trust our government implicitly. They are our friend. Be sure to report anyone who asks questions. Thank you for your assistance.
