I can think of two reasons. One he fought out of his weight class because of his big ego looking out of condition. Second he has just about zero ground game. He needs to work on his ground game or be exposed if he doesn't get the job done with his outstanding striking ability.

I think that Conor was hurt from some of the punches that Nate landed when they were on their feet... when he shot for the takedown, Conor was not himself. He was rocked at that point, and he never fully recovered

Nate has very long reach/arms, great boxing and a Mexican chin, ie he cannot be knocked out and can withstand alot of punishment.

Hits that conor connected with would have put several other fighters out, but not Nate.

Conor did not expect that.

He faught a bigger guy. Said it himself even. No excuses. Realitycheck...

Kind of funny his head got so big he said he'd fight even heavyweights. Rhonda also got so bigheaded for a while she said she would fight men in her weightclass  ::)

Yeah his head got too big, he thought he could handle heavyweights just because he thought he handled Mountain.

"Guy is 7 feet and i folded him", he said in an interview.

What he didn't realize was that Mountain went easy on him and not 100 %.

"It was a lot of fun," McGregor said. "That's a big man -- 6-foot-9, 400 pounds. And I still folded him up."

Nate was bigger, taller, longer reach, with great boxing and an iron chin that Conors earlier opponents didnt have.

He lost because he's an idiot and his corner.

Know your opponent and plan accordingly. Diaz is slow, great stamina, great will and chin. Don't stand and throw bombs and hope he falls. The cut he opened on Diaz was his downfall cause he got punch crazy and blew his load. His game plan should've been pot shotting Diaz. .in and out. Break him down slowly and rack up rounds, make him come to you and use your legs. Look how Josh Thomson owned Diaz....you don't fight stand up wars with those boys.. .plays right into their hands or you better have some amazing stamina to keep up that attack.

Because Conor starting believing his own bullshit, thinking movement coaches and crap like that is relevant in fighting.  Movement coaching, talk about wankers.

I agree. In and out. Do damage and pace yourself. I mean McGregor WAS winning...like you said he was trying to hard to put Diaz away..plus McGregor was NOT in the same shape as he usually is at a lighter weight. That extra weight slowed him and ultimately took away from his stamina

I saw that, too. Fucking ridiculous.

He didn't lose because of size or gas. He lost because he fought a more complete MMA fighter.

This is the "Movement" he needs to learn. It's called wrestling.

Nate won because he's a better fighter plain and simple. It's not rocket science. Connor has fought a bunch of nobodies, an out of shape Mendez, and a gear free Aldo.

I also think he got lucky with Aldo, that KO was a one in a million.

He threw everything he had at Diaz.. Nothing phased him.. He was completely gassed by the end of the 1st round.. Nate started landing on him and connor didn't like the way those punches felt lol.. Diaz could have kept it standing and would have knocked out connor .. But decided to end it while the opportunity was there.. Connors ground game is awful.. Mendez showed that.. It looks like connor will stay fighting " the midgets " as Diaz stated lol.. Remember also, diaz took the fight on 11 days notice.. He was training for a triathlon ..

He lost because diaz is very very durable and although he bkoodies up easy he can take serious punishment, he didn't get the distance right and blew his wad punching diazs arms, and he is not in the same league as the Americans on the ground, no Irishman ever will be, we don't have wresting over here and bjj is relatively new

I wonder how Mcgregor would do if he stayed in Vegas for 6 months and trained with Frank Mir in order to improve his BJJ
