It makes me laugh whenever people assume there is no grappling in boxing. All inside fighting involves grappling and grabbing. If you think boxers are not grappling when they get close and grab you just don't know boxing.

No one in boxing is intentionally trying to ground and pound the other opponent.

It's pointless to compare the two - MMA fighter would win with MMA rules and boxer would win with boxing rules. What's shifting here now is how people perceive the sports. Old people are not going to change their opinion, their mind is set. But younger people are going to look at boxing and ask how come the guy is not doing this or that. Certain things being not allowed is not going to make sense to them. They'll think MMA is "real" fighting and boxing is some weird limited fighting that doesn't look like an actual fight. Yes, boxing is worse for your brain and more people die. MMA looks more shocking because of the cuts, bleeding and broken bones and that looks like a "real" fight to people. MMA will take over, but it'll take decades.

You really think MMA isn't real fighting. These guys would take your head off in a back alley.  How could they make it more real for you?

Still .. do they know the old Atemi waza and vital points. I had a single finger thrust in my throat and i could not breath. This was a guy just showing me.

I just can't get into MMA but I've always liked boxing. Just looks like dudes rolling around on top of each other....gets boring.

What i canīt hear anymore is this system is better than this system. ALL fighting systems have an origin. That is the spirit of Budo. This then makes the Fighter.

I understand where you are coming from. Guys that roll on the mats know it's a chest match and a endurance race.  They appreciate the ground game. I will agree the striking game is more exciting.
