If I remember correctly he did an article in MD about how he was broke because he just got out of jail and only had 1000 dollars to spend on gear for the show

Strange. Didn't he pen an article in the same mag not too long before in which he said he landed a $4.2 million contract? He must've spent it like water.

All kidding aside, he had awesome genetics. Maybe the diuretic incident made him wary.

i think our beloved Ron did an interview with him talking about his financial issues and possible comeback maybe he would be willing to comment on this and reaffirm what I'm saying.  That being said, no of coarse I don't believe he spent only a grand on gear but he was noticeably smaller in the comeback pics.

Dillett was considerably younger when he came back. Levrone was 52/53. Big difference.

Supposedly he only trained a few months beforehand, and damn does it show. IMO Dillett fell really quickly, and was already more or less done by '98. He got gifted some NOC show well past his prime. Some say his best shape ever was the Arnold that he cramped up at, but I think his best was '94 Olympia or thereabouts.

Anyway, all of his earlier flaws are tens times worse here in '06. Chest is almost totally swallowed by a mess of veins, BDB is literally all delts. Taper is gone... hard to swallow.

so he trains for a few months as you suggested, or say even if it was for one year, and doesn't look like he did in his prime, and this is somehow surprising? lol.
