This type BB row has been a favorite of mind for years. Another version is using a narrower curl grip, rather than the normal overhand grip, and bringing the bar more into the lower abs can influencing the lats and even the biceps that much more.
Those 45 degree BB rows are a mass builders, no doubt. Overhand or curl grip...which ever you prefer. Also hits the biceps strongly. Anyway you do BB rows, can buildup to a surprising amount of weight being used.
Momentum and a slight cheating style pretty much is the pattern of some really large and strong men. If others find superior results from by-the-book workouts, than good for them. Each of us have our own training goals in mind.
Just to note: really never need a belt with this lift. The actually dynamic, or purpose, would be lost on this type exercise.
