really the first real work out that i did these. very hard to do for me, being kind of fat. the position is not normal, as my belt is really tight, makes it hard to breath. but for fucks sake, they work.
did them today, and tonight my back is feeling good and tight. that's a good sign for me. my workout partner and i were sweating like bitches. give them a try. judo

I tried them for a few weeks but didn't like having no stretch at the bottom of the movement which I feel is very important, the same (deadstop) effect can be achieved by pausing in the stretched position with the torso almost parallel to the floor, been doing them this way instead of the "yates" torso at 45 degrees or above style which did for years and am really liking the new style

Real rows are done on the water in a shell, not with pads on the floor, on your wrists, and cuddled up to your mangina.

Yates style 45 degree BB rows do not innervate the lats or mid back for me at all.  They hit more traps than anything else.  Yates would've had a big/wide back no matter what exercises he did.  Look at early pics of him, his lats were a strong point from the very start.

I do rows like this exclusively, as it eliminates momentum and takes out the band reflex.

The difference is, the guy in the video is using momentum to move the weight.   Should lower the weight, keep his back flat, and lift the weight by squeezing his shoulder blades.

Also, there's no need for a belt.  Almost ever.

T-bars rule, still compound, less cheating. My nr 1 back exercise.
Combined with regular deads, that's all a back needs.
Not even a need for pullups.

This type BB row has been a favorite of mind for years.  Another version is using a narrower curl grip, rather than the normal overhand grip, and bringing the bar more into the lower abs can influencing the lats and even the biceps that much more.

Those 45 degree BB rows are a mass builders, no doubt. Overhand or curl grip...which ever you prefer. Also hits the biceps strongly. Anyway you do BB rows, can buildup to a surprising amount of weight being used.

Momentum and a slight cheating style pretty much is the pattern of some really large and strong men. If others find superior results from by-the-book workouts, than good for them. Each of us have our own training goals in mind.

Just to note: really never need a belt with this lift. The actually dynamic, or purpose, would be lost on this type exercise.

Good Luck.

lol on doing them strictly. the idea is to cheat a little, to get the weight moving. I'm not a 120 pound twins, doing a ten on each side, doing them real slow like a pussy. my back is fine!!!
i lift like a animal. not a pussy :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Translation:  I'm fat, use a weight belt because my core is weak, and I ego lift.

Anyway be careful with that weight belt, you might poke a hole in your zebra striped Zubaz pants.

Yes I'm a little fat. Yes I'm bald. Yes I'm not too good looking anymore.
BUT, I'm banging two plates for six reps, for 4 sets. At age 59 bitches👄👄👄👄👄👄👄👄
And that two plates will soon be two oranges and a yellow on each side. That's 275 if you
Can't figure that out. 💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉💉👠👠👠

I never do cable long rows without envisioning myself as one of those Roman slaves rowing the slave ship in a gladiator movie.

The back is really in a compromised position there. Then compound that by the momentum jerk and you have a recipe for a lower back injury.
