Yup. Rip off for something you'll wear for a couple hours.  For $250 I can bang a a sexy hooker and still have $175 cash left over.

I think you have that backwards.  Traditionally, the father of the bride pays for the wedding... and in the really old days he had to cough up a dowry too.


I don't hate weddings; I just think they have gotten way out of control... with family members and guests spending money they do not have... couples focusing on the wedding and not the marriage (hence the break up a year or two later)... devoting money to the wedding, yet the couple cannot afford to buy a decent home... etc.

I remember back when a $50 wedding gift was a lot of money, now $150-200 is about average.

Although, my groomsmen put on a great stag and did a lot for me. I bought them each brand new suits, shoes etc for the wedding and told them no gift needed from them.

If your mate doesnt say that then he is an asshole, or maybe you aren't that good friends.
