You should look into obtaining a CSN, MFT. Granted, very few can earn this prestigious title but it could potentially lead to you heading a worldwide fitness conglomerate like Vince Goodrum, CSN MFT and the Caliber Fitness Empire.

That is a lot of money for a workout partner.

Maybe I don't understand it.

yup,  and the longterm clients never change. some get fatter over the years.

if you can't motivate yourself to train three hours a week, then you also will not be disciplined with your diet or to do cardio on your days off.

If you work for a commercial gym not very much, if you're an independent contractor and you treat it like a business and hustle, easily over $100k.

That is extremely high. I would imagine most make $15 an hour.

Median does not mean average, it's meaningless to the OP's question.

The median makes a better job describing wages since wages don't follow a normal curve.

It provides a range.

Plus, there's so much more context that needs to be added to the OPs question to make it relevant anyway.

If you work for a commercial gym not very much, if you're an independent contractor and you treat it like a business and hustle, easily over $100k.

This, most work awful hours all day until 9pm at night, half the clients don't even show up and they make next to nothing and have to work a second job.

Only people I know that make good money run there own business, know plenty who started out in there house and expended into a business over time and do very well.

I am not sure that I could stand watching the same people come and zombie through the same workout with the same weights days after day and make no progress. Then to listen to their excuses why they couldn't eat right and couldn't train and blah, blah, blah.

It can pay a decent wage, especially considering the low entry requirement.

Don't do it unless you know you're a good salesman, otherwise you'll crash and burn

A dude at my gym, no idea what he was making there, too a private training/diet guru job for a rich dude who pays him low six figures. The expectations are high though, as he travels with him and stuff like that.

This is like asking "how big can my biceps get, I'm thinking of lifting weights" and then having folks from the Internet chime in with pictures of IFBB pros.

Location matters A LOT.  Are there people with high incomes in your area who can afford such a luxury?  Do some math.  Assume $40 for an hour.  How many people do you think you could talk into paying this?  How many hours do you think you'd get someone to buy a week?

Then after your rosy assumptions, cut that in half.  Also you won't have health insurance.

My guess is the the average rep counter makes a very under average 30k. That is the reason most trainers are driving 10+ yr old cars, living in shitty one bedroom apartments , single, with 0 play money.

If you're a rep counter then yes, that's about right. If you're an actual trainer then you're living a pretty comfy lifestyle. Nothing wrong with driving 10 year old cars. Millionairs do it everyday.

.......unless you're 50 years old driving a 1994 slammed primered  s-10 truck then you might want to rethink things.
