I think you are seriously confused as to what you've actually been hired to do. For example I'll use a college program....
The University of Miami has a 5 person staff (full time), 7 graduate assistant trainers, and a # of student trainers who are majoring in that field.
Here are their titles and qualifications........
1. Scott McGonagle - Head Athletic Trainer
McGonagle's extensive experience includes thirteen seasons as head athletic trainer at the University of Tulsa from 1982 to 1995 and head athletic trainer in 1981-82 at Crowley (Texas) High School. McGonagle began his collegiate athletics career as a student trainer at the University of Kansas from 1977-1980. During that time, McGonagle worked as a student athletic trainer for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1978, 1979 and 1981 seasons. He attended the University of Kansas and received his bachelor of science in Physical Education in 1980. He later graduated from the University of Arizona in 1981 with his master's of science in Athletic Training.
2. Kevin Blaske - Associate Athletic Trainer

Education: B.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences from University of Florida. M.S. in Sports Health Science from Life University.
Specializations: Rehabilitation and Injury Tracking Software.
Other Interests/Achievements: Worked in NFL for 4 years with the Buffalo Bills.
4. Garrick Edwards - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Edwards joined the Hurricanes in 2003 after spending the 2002-03 season as an assistant athletic trainer for the NFL's New England Patriots. Prior to his tint with the Patriots, Edwards served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Miami from 2000-02. Edwards, who received his master's degree from the University of Miami in 2002, assisted with the football program, and worked extensively with the men's and women's track teams. Edwards received his Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University in 2000. While pursuing his degree Edwards worked as a student athletic trainer for the Wildcats, working with the men's basketall and football teams. In addition, Edwards served as a student athletic trainer for the NFL's Denver Broncos during the summers of 1998 and 1999.
