I don't play online shooters or witches stuff. Fave games are pro evo football, hitman type games and metal gear solid. Last game i got for ps3 was dishonored, that was good.

I was actually waiting for Uncharted 4 to be released before getting one but now will probably wait for the 4.5 instead.
You prefer Pro Evo over FIFA?

Make no mistake though, pc massacres all the consoles put together, these days you can have it in a small box next to your tv, with a ui that you can control with your gamepad.Games look better, are cheaper, can all be stored on a hard drive as big as you want.

But do you still have to spend a small fortune to get a decent pc that will run the latest games? Can it be made easy enough so the bairns can play it easily without having to ask to change game ect

Yes, it's a piece of piss these days, you can have your pc boot in to steam big picture mode which looks just like a ps4 or xb1 interface, no discs needed, all games installed and run from hard drive.can pick between 360, PS3, ps4, xb1 controllers etc.You can build a pc that runs everything for just slightly more than ps4 launch price, then the games on PC are FAR cheaper for same game, ps4 games can stay same price for years, PC a few months later the price can have halved or more, or you could use torrents to "trial" full version games....Then because your PC is plugged in to your tv you can run kodi which is also the best media centre available.

I had a gaming pc years ago. Basically, my dad bought a new PC and I just bought a graphic card for about $100.  ;D

I still prefer consoles.

PC but it's significantly more costly. PS4.5 is a good alternative

Stream big mode mode sucks and you still need a keyboard and mouse sometimes. Also at launch the games prices are the same, but with a disc you can sell it after the fact and get some money back.

Works fine, you can actually have your pc boot in to kodi, have you movies, tv shows, music etc  all controlled by a remote or gamepad, have a games icon which launches steam big picture mode , launch your games from there, use steam in built web browser, when your done it auto switches back to kodi.Seamless.

Games never run correctly on PCs no matter how powerful.  Always glitches and shut downs and annoyances.  The gameplay always feels jerky and not smooth or refined compared to a console even with the same games.

I like PC gaming, but its just not worth the frustration all the time.

Used to like PC, but now Xbox. PCs are better for fps. Consoles are more convenient, and more of a relaxing pursuit in front of a big screen TV. In general, although this may change soon, everyone tend to be on an even keel with consoles.

Is different nowdays, the days of blue screens and games not running properly are over.

shit

Quake 1 was pure CPU until GLQuake came out.

I know, because mistakes were made on my part, too - at that time I saved up $600 to upgrade my pc and instead of going with a Pentium 166, I went with the cheaper, IBM 686-166.

A big mistake - as the floating point of those processors was fucking useless compared to the p166 and I paid with shitty performance in Quake.

I then tried to buy more video ram for my video card - again, mistakes were made, that wasn't the problem.

Wasn't until I got a voodoo3 that things got good.

Adonis's words are not fully accurate - if you have a powerful pc, your time spent fiddling with games or having problems with them is pretty much zero (buy on steam, run, play), but then, what would you expect when you have a 700US video card in your system?  In fact, the more you spend, the less trouble you will have - but consoles will only give you 60fps max.

Also, citing the versions on consoles being better is only exposing your lack of experience with pc gaming.  PC Gamers, experienced PC gamers know that if the game is cross platform, the PC version will invariably be a lazily conceived piece of shit.  Don't even go there.

I would suggest those of you with PS4s try PSVR somewhere, when it comes out.  I have a HTC Vive and it is a better gaming experience than anything I have ever experienced.  By a long long way.  The Vive, with its ability to move around a room and interact with shit is really the king at the moment, but the PSVR will be a fair bit cheaper for those of you who already have the console.

Be skeptical about VR - because it'll only make the rebuttal when you actually try it, more amusing.

I went through the exact same thing with the same game, the "flies" buzzing around the corpses were huge black squares, gave up trying to play it in the end

What if you need a new PC and you could just add some extra $200 for a decent graphic card? Can you even buy something decent for that price? Or you still need a lot of PC power and it gets expensive as hell?

By decent I mean something that would play games with the same fps and resolution as their consoles counterpart.

I bought a NVIDIA graphic card for about $100 6 years ago and the games ran at lower resolution and fps as the consoles versions.

But that was 6 years ago. And the games were Resident evil 5, Devil may cry, Dead space. Basically, games that were being released in the ps3 too at that time.

Even back then $100 was not good enough.
