But China has just as many competitors in events as USA. Most developed countries have people entered in all events.

Why is population a factor in your assessment. Has nothing to do with the size of the teams nor the competitors at the Olympics. Each nation represents itself with competitors, not it's population.

It's how countries that aren't as good at sports as us deal with their insecurities.
