Perhaps I am wrong about the conditioning, but I just looked at a bunch of pics and videos for comparison and today's pros don't seem to be holding subcutaneous water. In general their muscles seem to be rounder, but "softer". They have deep 3-D like proportions, but the individual muscles don't seem to have the hard striations of yesteryear. Is it site enhancement, too much insulin use or some other concoction; or, am I just wrong and they just aren't as dry?
