My take on kevin levrone.
« on: September 19, 2016, 04:52:32 AM »
I would have liked to see a bit more pop in his back muscles and a bit ore size and definition in his legs. Apart from that i think he actually looked good.

He looked a lot better at the finals. He is probably 85% of his 2003 look. Given the injuries, it was impressive.

It was a respectable showing.  The current IFBB pros, with a few exceptions, are not as aesthetically pleasing as the pros of the 90's.  Contrary to popular opinion, I think they are bigger and more conditioned than the guys from the 90's.  However, we seemed to have reached a tipping point and now the delts of almost every competitor seem to overpower the chest and their torsos are just too damn thick. It is my opinion that Flex Wheeler is still the most aesthetically pleasing bodybuilder to ever set foot on a stage.

Yes, Kevin looked much more filled out on Saturday than he did on Friday.

Despite injuries it was an impressive showing on the greatest bb stage on earth.

Friday night I thought he looked extremely old and depleted, but Saturday I was much more impressed with his showing....fuller and more youthful.

Absolutely agree.   His physique today is classic and he sought to challenge the current standard (bloofy).   It's like extremes but on opposite sides of the scale.

I was admittedly shocked on Friday when he came out....almost without words.   Looked nothing like he did at the press conference (at least to me).

Saw some of the pics after the live show and thought he actually won a couple poses against the top 5 (waist up unfortunately).

Saturday night he was like a different man up there.  Vastly improved.

He I'm not a bbr, but that's what I saw.

Bigger?  Maybe.

Heavier?  Yes.

Conditioned?  No way.

LOL, is that a genuine quote?

Whether or not it is it sure seems true.

By and large, squatting is a young man's exercise.

Not me. They will have to pry my ice cold corpse out of the squat racks. This is a way of life for some of us. Fucking levrone is a rock star one week, a wannabe actor the next, oh yeah and this week he'll be a bodybuilder! He doesn't have a love affair with the iron like I do. That's for damn sure.

I just checked out a bunch of pics.

They all looked shitty.

Case in point - mass on top of mass, but looks hideous.

Great quote and mostly true. Dave Draper still kicking ass after all these years though.

He looked like he could hardly move on stage. In the most muscular pose he looked like he was straining just to move his arms. He'll probably develop a rare congenital disorder soon.

I think Robbie and Vince Taylor had much better showings at Kevin's current age.  Still a respectable showing from Kevin as he is one of my all time favorites.  I was in Red Bank NJ when he completed at the Jr's with DeMayo.  Father time can suck it.

Robbie lost his legs too ,upper body was still good he was never as big as kev,,vince upper body was on par with kev's at both peaks but his quads were never dominant his calves were awesome..

Perhaps I am wrong about the conditioning, but I just looked at a bunch of pics and videos for comparison and today's pros don't seem to be holding subcutaneous water. In general their muscles seem to be rounder, but "softer".  They have deep 3-D like proportions, but the individual muscles don't seem to have the hard striations of yesteryear. Is it site enhancement, too much insulin use or some other concoction; or, am I just wrong and they just aren't as dry?
