I'm not a wrestler or "in the business" but i get a feeling that the general audience thinks being in the WWE is the ultimate goal of every wrestler

Initially I think that is true for any wrestler however after a while they probably see that working for them isn't what it's all cracked to be

so all that prefaced I get a feeling that Brian makes way more money and has a better time in life working the indys than having to be creatively starved by WWE writers, not being paid as much as he does working indy shots and "selling gimmicks, brother" and he doesn't have to work that exhausting road schedule

plus--brian was in WWE's development system of FCW under "brian logan"

Not even that.  Its all about the money.  A person wrestling in NXT salary is only 25-30k a year.  Only the top makes any real money.  Seth Rollins before last year was making about 600k if that tells you something.

Compare that to other place.  Every other venue including TNA doesn't require you to wrestle exclusively.  You can go where you want so a relatively known wrestler can still do 15 minutes of work and get paid.  The vast majority of wrestlers could care less about the WWE...take this picture below for example of the Rock & Roll Express and Demolition from their recent show.  These guys haven't been on TV for over 20 years but they are still getting well paid on the indy market.
