In my opinion to get mentally ripped you must treat the brain as if it was your body trying to get ripped. Nothing changes for the brain from the body in getting ripped, they are essentially on the same wavelength. Sunken in cheeks means sunken in brain, it all operates in unison.
Thank heavens we have an expert in our midst! Apropos of your informed answer above, the theory of mind-body dualism has been around ever since Heraclitus developed the contraries of the immaterial mind (
nous) and material nature (
phusis), to which the body belongs. However, by your lights, one must treat the mind (or 'brain,' as you put it) the same as the body: i.e., a ripped body is the reflection of a ripped mind and vice versa. How clever!
My only concern about your instructive theory is that agency is usually thought to reside in the mental powers which act one-directionally on the sensuous body (e.g., the body does what the mind commands – a disciplined mind is displayed in its correlate body). So, your claim explicitly treats both mind and body as ostensibly reciprocal (the one points back to the other).
Subsequently, do you see the danger of a holistic Gestalt leading to a recursive loop? A trifle response for one such as you, I know. But, please, tell us.
Oh, yes, welcome to GB, bushwaiter! I hope to learn much.
