I did a modified Hise routine of squats and never did I drink milk between sets.  Neither did the powerlifters that I learned about the 20 reps squat routine from. Milk was consumed throughout the day for up to 3 gallons a day.  Sometimes I drank Kefir during the day, other times it was whipping crème to augment the milk consumption.  It's all about the calories.  I squatted twice each week for a total of four sets per session after a couple of warm-ups.

1. I wasn't referring to 20 rep squats as performed by Hise.  I am not talking about Hise at all.
